Assistant Manager – Boom’s Pizza | Van Aken $18–$20 per hour, plus tips Pizza night is sacred. Help us make it awesome. Great pizza gets people through the door. Great hospitality brings them back. Boom’s Pizza is looking for an Assistant Manager at our Van Aken location who brings energy, takes initiative, and knows how to make people feel welcome. Someone who can keep a busy shift moving, jump in wherever needed, and help the team deliver an experience worth coming back for. As the General Manager’s primary support, you’ll be a hospitality driver - setting the tone for service, building your team’s confidence, and making sure the care we put into our pizza carries through to every guest interaction. • Create a welcoming atmosphere from the first hello to the final pickup.
• Lead by example with friendly, attentive service that makes guests feel noticed and appreciated.
• Help team members build menu knowledge, make thoughtful recommendations, and anticipate guest needs.
• Handle guest concerns with empathy, ownership, and follow-through.
• Keep hospitality a priority during the rush, when the details matter most.

Be the GM’s go-to.

• Partner with the General Manager to turn daily priorities into consistent action.
• Coordinate shifts, communicate expectations, and help the team stay organized.
• Take the lead when the GM is away, keeping service and standards on track.
• Share clear shift reports covering guest feedback, employee concerns, comps, and follow-up needs.

Keep the pizza - and the shift - moving.

• Work alongside the team in both front and back of house.
• Oversee opening readiness, including dough pulling, prep, line checks, stocked stations, and accurate cash drawers.
• Help manage inventory, maintain pars, receive deliveries, and support ordering.
• Hold the line on food quality, cleanliness, sanitation, and safety.
• Lead thorough closing procedures, reconcile drawers, and secure the restaurant.

Help your people succeed.

• Coach in the moment with clear direction and respectful feedback.
• Help train new employees and reinforce expectations through your own work.
• Build a team atmosphere where people communicate, pitch in, and support one another.
• Support staffing and scheduling needs, with final scheduling, hours, and disciplinary decisions handled by the GM.
• Bring employee concerns to leadership and help ensure appropriate follow-through.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• You have 1–2 years of restaurant or food service experience, ideally with supervisory responsibilities.
• You enjoy taking care of people - guests and teammates alike.
• You communicate clearly and stay steady when things get busy.
• You’re comfortable with food preparation, cash handling, inventory, and food safety standards.
• You notice what needs to happen and step in.
• You’re available for evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
