- Contact potential clients through cold calls, emails and social outreach to public sector IT and security leaders.
- Present BlueVoyant and its solutions to potential SLED clients.
- Identify client needs, including cybersecurity mandates, compliance requirements (e.g., CJIS, FERPA, state security frameworks) and funding drivers, and suggest appropriate solutions.
- Develop and run lead generation strategies that book a targeted number of qualified appointments for the SLED Sales team, aiming to exceed quota.
- Qualify leads from marketing campaigns, public sector events and associations (e.g., NASCIO, MS-ISAC, EDUCAUSE, CoSN).
- Track public sector buying signals, including budget cycles, grant funding (e.g., State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program), RFIs/RFPs and cooperative purchasing contract activity.
- Set up meetings and calls between prospects and the SLED Sales team.
- Work with channel, reseller and contract-vehicle partners on joint prospecting.
- Build and refine call scripts, campaign cadences and email pitches tailored to SLED personas.
- Use our prospecting tools and capture all activity accurately in the CRM.
- Track and report productivity metrics and quota attainment to Marketing and SLED Sales.
- Stay up to date with new offerings, pricing/payment plans and available public sector contract vehicles.
- Work closely with the SLED Sales team and the Global SDR function.
What You'll Bring
- 1–2 years of proven experience as a BDR, SDR, internal sales or similar role.
- Track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets or quotas.
- Hands-on experience with multiple prospecting techniques, including cold calling.
- Understanding of how state, local government and education organizations buy, including budget cycles, procurement rules, RFPs and cooperative contracts.
- Experience with a CRM and email automation tools (Salesforce and Outplay/Outreach/SalesLoft preferred).
- Working knowledge of MS Excel and data analysis.
- Understanding of sales performance metrics.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with confidence making first contact and building lasting relationships.
- Competitive, self-motivated and resourceful, with a positive, team-first attitude.
Nice to Have:
- Experience selling to the public sector or SLED market.
- Experience in the cybersecurity or high-tech industry.
- Familiarity with public sector cybersecurity frameworks and requirements (e.g., NIST CSF, CJIS, StateRAMP).
