Join us in creating safe, efficient, and innovative structural solutions for our community!

BlueScope Conventional Steel Services (BCSS) supports Butler Manufacturing and Varco Pruden Buildings as divisions of BlueScope Buildings North America (BBNA) by:

Providing structural steel framed building solutions, products, and services
Growing our conventional steel division by pursuing incremental, profitable growth into new markets

If you’re ready to make an impact, we want to hear from you!

What You’ll Do The Sales Engineer plays a crucial role in bridging design and sales between BCSS, builders, and brand partners. This position is responsible for developing preliminary structural designs, collaborating with internal and external teams, and delivering professional proposals for both conventional and hybrid buildings. We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds who bring fresh perspectives and innovative problem-solving skills to our team.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and manage relationships with external engineering resources as needed, including obtaining supplier quotes, preparing estimates, and delivering proposals.
Review building plans and specifications to assess project scope and proposal requirements.
Engage with customers to understand their building needs, clarify project details, and ensure timely proposal delivery.
Prepare or oversee preliminary structural designs using both conventional steel and PEMB design tools, incorporating proposal drawings and reactions as necessary.
Collaborate with management and brand sales teams to refine sales strategies, define margin targets, and advocate for BCSS solutions.

What We’re Looking For:

We value problem-solvers with strong technical and communication skills who thrive in a collaborative environment. You’ll be a great fit if you:

Hold a Bachelor of Science in Civil , Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering or related field.
Are a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or on track to obtain your PE within the next few years.
Have experience with steel building design; pre-engineered metal building experience is beneficial.
Have working knowledge of - or a willingness to learn - industry-relevant software such as RAM, RISA, REVIT, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and others
Strong written and verbal communication skills including experience with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

We welcome candidates with diverse backgrounds and experiences who are eager to grow, innovate, and contribute to our team’s success.
