Company Description For over 100 years, BlueScope continues to build on our reputation of quality brands and products, leading technology and a customer-first spirit. Through our global brands, we are one of the largest manufacturers of building solutions in the world. Our diverse, bright and inspired workforce is committed to bettering the communities we serve through breakthrough thinking and innovations. Your goals, ideas and perspective can help shape our future – we look forward to hearing them!

Join Our Team as a Sales Engineer!

We’re looking for skilled and detail-oriented individuals to design and analyze structures that support and shape the built environment. Whether you're an experienced engineer or a recent graduate eager to learn and grow in a dynamic team, we welcome candidates of all backgrounds to bring their unique strengths to our projects. Join us in creating safe, efficient, and innovative structural solutions for our community!

BlueScope Conventional Steel Services (BCSS) supports Butler Manufacturing and Varco Pruden Buildings as divisions of BlueScope Buildings North America (BBNA) by:

Providing structural steel framed building solutions, products, and services
Growing our conventional steel division by pursuing incremental, profitable growth into new markets
Enhancing our value to the contractors we work with
Relentless commitment to continuous improvement as a high-performance, world-class organization

What We Offer

Inclusive Culture: A welcoming, equitable environment where diverse perspectives and experiences are valued.
Growth Opportunities: Access to professional development, leadership training, and career advancement.
Collaborative Team: Join a team that values mutual respect, trust, and teamwork.
Competitive Benefits: A comprehensive benefits package, flexible work options, and a focus on work-life balance.

If you’re ready to make an impact, we want to hear from you!

What You’ll Do The Sales Engineer plays a crucial role in bridging design and sales between BCSS, builders, and brand partners. This position is responsible for developing preliminary structural designs, collaborating with internal and external teams, and delivering professional proposals for both conventional and hybrid buildings. We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds who bring fresh perspectives and innovative problem-solving skills to our team.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and manage relationships with external engineering resources as needed, including obtaining supplier quotes, preparing estimates, and delivering proposals.
Review building plans and specifications to assess project scope and proposal requirements.
Engage with customers to understand their building needs, clarify project details, and ensure timely proposal delivery.
Prepare or oversee preliminary structural designs using both conventional steel and PEMB design tools, incorporating proposal drawings and reactions as necessary.
Collaborate with management and brand sales teams to refine sales strategies, define margin targets, and advocate for BCSS solutions.

What We’re Looking For:

We value problem-solvers with strong technical and communication skills who thrive in a collaborative environment. You’ll be a great fit if you:

Hold a Bachelor of Science in Civil , Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering or related field.
Are a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or on track to obtain your PE within the next few years.
Have experience with steel building design; pre-engineered metal building experience is beneficial.
Have working knowledge of - or a willingness to learn - industry-relevant software such as RAM, RISA, REVIT, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and others
Strong written and verbal communication skills including experience with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

We welcome candidates with diverse backgrounds and experiences who are eager to grow, innovate, and contribute to our team’s success.
