TITAN™ Hydraulic Fracturing Operations - Build the Future of Fracturing Technology BJ Energy Solutions is redefining hydraulic fracturing through advanced engineering, intelligent automation, disciplined execution and a commitment to safety and performance. Our TITAN™ platform combines proprietary equipment, digital controls and lower-emission technology to deliver reliable operations in demanding field environments.

PowerGen Technician - Natural Gas Power Generation & Controls As a PowerGen Technician, you will operate, inspect, commission, maintain, troubleshoot and repair BJ Energy Solutions’ portable natural-gas generator systems and associated power-distribution equipment. Working at remote field locations, you will help deliver dependable power to support hydraulic fracturing operations.

This is a hands-on, cross-disciplinary opportunity for someone with a strong foundation in mechanical systems or electrical, electronic and controls technology who wants to develop skills across both disciplines. You will work with Operations, Maintenance and technical support teams to diagnose problems, restore equipment availability and improve reliability.

What You Will Work On

  • Portable natural-gas engine-generator sets, including fuel-gas, ignition, air-intake, lubrication, cooling and starting/charging systems
  • Generators, alternators, three-phase generation and distribution systems, including 480-volt equipment
  • Generator controls, synchronization, paralleling, load sharing and equipment protection systems
  • Switchgear, breakers, power cabling, grounding and bonding
  • Sensors, instrumentation, electronic controls, telemetry, alarms and remote-monitoring systems

What You Will Do

  • Inspect, operate and monitor portable natural-gas generator systems during pre-start checks, startup, synchronization, loading, normal operation and shutdown.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on natural-gas engines, generator sets and associated mechanical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot engine performance, electrical controls, communication faults, alarms, sensors and instrumentation using operating data, technical drawings and approved diagnostic tools.
  • Inspect and service fuel, air, cooling, lubrication, ignition, charging and supporting systems; complete authorized component replacements, adjustments and post-repair checks.
  • Support inspections and fault diagnosis of generator controls, protection devices, switchgear and three-phase distribution systems, including 480-volt systems, within your qualifications and authorization.
  • Respond to field breakdowns and work with Operations, Maintenance, vendors and technical support to return equipment to service safely.
  • Verify equipment readiness, operating parameters, alarms and performance; identify developing issues before they lead to unplanned downtime.
  • Read electrical one-lines, wiring diagrams, schematics, mechanical drawings, equipment manuals and electronic service information.
  • Complete accurate inspection reports, operating logs, maintenance records, test results and follow-up work orders.
  • Follow BJ Energy’s hazard assessment, energy isolation, lockout/tagout and electrical safe-work procedures, escalating regulated or specialized work to appropriately qualified personnel.

What You Bring - Required

  • Three or more years of relevant experience with industrial electrical systems, controls, generators, engines, heavy equipment, or comparable field-service equipment preferred.
  • Experience with natural-gas generators, generator controls, 480-volt systems, switchgear, VFDs, and mobile electrical-distribution equipment preferred.
  • Ability to read electrical one-lines, schematics, technical manuals, and equipment drawings.
  • Familiarity with electrical test equipment and safe electrical troubleshooting practices.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot both electrical and engine-related generator issues.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain BJ’s required qualified-electrical-worker, LOTO, and generator-operator qualifications.
  • Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, Power Generation Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical discipline preferred. Equivalent directly applicable military or industrial experience may be considered.
  • Ability to work independently at remote field locations while following established procedures and escalation requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Help Build What Comes Next PowerGen Technicians help keep BJ Energy’s advanced operations running by delivering safe, reliable field power. Bring your troubleshooting experience and willingness to learn to the team Powering What’s Next.
