Role Summary:

Serve as primary technical lead responsible for reverse engineering Rocket terminal emulator macros or VB (excel based macros) and converting them into IBM PCOMM-based automation solutions while preserving business functionality, performance, and output integrity.

Key Responsibilities

Macro Analysis and Conversion

• Analyze Rocket macro scripts and workflows.
• Reverse engineer business logic and process dependencies.
• Convert Rocket macros using: o VBA o VBScript o PowerShell o PCOMM HACL Automation o EHLLAPI Automation o COM Automation Solutions Mainframe Automation Development
• Automate: o Host navigation o Screen recognition o Protected/unprotected fields o Function key processing o File transfers o Multi-session operations o Batch processing Reliability Engineering
• Replace hard-coded delays with: o Screen-ready checks o Cursor-position validation o Host synchronization techniques o Field readiness validation
• Implement: o Logging o Error handling o Retry mechanisms o Recovery workflows Documentation
• Create design documentation.
• Generate macro mapping documents.
• Support operational runbook development.

Required Technical Skills Mainframe & Terminal Emulation

• 12+ years experience with: o IBM 3270 o IBM 5250 o Terminal emulation platforms
• Deep understanding of: o Host sessions o Presentation spaces o Screen attributes o AID keys o Keyboard mappings PCOMM Automation

Strong experience in:

• IBM Personal Communications (PCOMM)
• EHLLAPI
• HACL
• COM Automation
• Session profile management
• File transfer configuration Programming Languages

Advanced proficiency in:

• VBA
• VBScript

Preferred:

• PowerShell
• Python
• C#
• Java
