Intern (LNG EHS Support)

BHE GT&S has an exciting summer internship opportunity for a rising sophomore, junior or senior for an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) student within our Safety and Environmental Compliance department at our Cove Point liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility located in Lusby, MD.

The successful candidate will:

• Provide field EHS support for LNG facilities, that includes supporting various Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) programs (e.g., respiratory protection, hearing conservation, fall protection) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) programs (e.g., spill prevention and control, stormwater management, waste management).
• Support the completion of EHS self-assessments, new employee orientations, and other face-to-face training at LNG facilities to improve EHS compliance.
• Support external regulatory or internal inspections.
• Support trending leading and lagging EHS indicators and offer suggestions for improvement.
• Walkdown facilities to ensure EHS compliance and work with stakeholders to correct any deficiencies or areas for improvement identified.
• To support your summer internship experience we offer a series of virtual events that support the National Association of College and Employers (NACE) career-ready competencies so that you can learn more about our values, our work, and each other.

Individuals must have a desire to learn and produce as part of a safety conscious workplace. An independent source of transportation for this summer 2027 internship is needed as there are limited public transportation options in the area. Your summer internship will consist of a minimum of 8 weeks on site and will begin June 7. Please note: the internship could be extended considering your summer schedule and the needs of the business, so a start date prior to June 7 and/or extended end date could be a possibility. *Successful candidates who are 50 miles or more from the assigned work location may be eligible for a one-time housing stipend.

Education

• Must be a full-time student attending a 4-year university majoring in Environmental, Safety, and/or Industrial Hygiene.
• Student must be a rising sophomore prior to summer of 2027.
• Student must have a GPA of 2.5 (3.0 preferred).
