What You’ll Do

  • Lead the design and analysis of structural systems for new construction, renovations, adaptive reuse, and existing-building projects.
  • Manage structural engineering projects and project teams, including scope, schedule, staffing, budget, quality, and client expectations.
  • Design and review structural systems using steel, reinforced concrete, masonry/CMU, wood, and other applicable materials.
  • Participate in project meetings as structural project manager; communicate design recommendations, schedules and make sound project decisions.
  • Prepare and review calculations, construction documents, specifications, technical reports, and BIM deliverables.
  • Lead construction administration, including RFIs, shop drawings, submittals, site observations, and site visits.
  • Mentor engineers and designers while supporting proposals, client development, and strategic market growth.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively, build and maintain strong relationships, and communicate clearly with clients, external project teams, and internal team.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet project deadlines, and mentor and develop engineers.
  • 7+ years of progressive structural engineering experience, including projects involving K-12 schools, adaptive reuse, and office/commercial buildings
  • Proven project management and project-team leadership experience, including scheduling, resource allocation, meeting deadlines, and quality control review.
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills, with the confidence to lead meetings and make sound decisions.
  • Broad structural design experience across multiple materials.
  • Basic Revit proficiency, including viewing model and using model for coordination with other disciplines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in structural engineering or related advanced coursework.
  • Experience with life sciences, manufacturing, data centers, mission-critical facilities, or other strategic markets.
  • Familiarity with ACC/BIM 360, which includes model review, clash detection, and coordination workflows, and with Bluebeam Studio
  • Basic understanding of AI tools and their application to structural engineering workflows, with an interest in developing Bennett & Pless’ use of AI to advance structural engineering.
  • Business development, proposal writing, client growth, and project financial management experience.
