Original job description

The Opportunity We are looking for an experienced Structural Engineer to join our Atlanta office and play a key role in its continued growth. You will work on diverse large scale structural projects, mentor engineers and help expand Bennett & Pless’ presence in the market. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with complex projects and multiple teams. You will work across varied materials and markets, guide project decisions, and lead projects from concept through construction. About Bennett & Pless For more than 60 years, Bennett & Pless has delivered structural engineering solutions across a wide range of markets, including manufacturing, industrial, commercial, education, public, and adaptive reuse. With offices across the Southeast and Midwest, we combine the resources of a growing firm with a collaborative culture, technical excellence, and a commitment to developing our people. What You’ll Do

Perform hands-on structural design, analysis, and production for highly technical projects, including large-scale manufacturing and data center facilities.
Design structural systems using steel, concrete, and masonry for low- to mid-rise structures.
Develop and check structural computer models and support younger engineers in modeling and analysis.
Perform QA/QC reviews of calculations, models, and drawings, including projects outside your own design team; identify concerns and work with project managers and engineers to resolve them.
Mentor and train junior engineers, explain technical solutions, and strengthen team collaboration and technical capabilities.
Collaborate with project managers and engineers to communicate technical recommendations and resolve design and coordination challenges.
Manage multiple project assignments, tasks, and deadlines in a fast-paced team environment while delivering high-quality technical work.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
7+ years of structural engineering experience, with strong hands-on technical design and production capabilities.
Structural design experience with steel, concrete, and masonry systems in low- to mid-rise structures.
Proficiency with industry-standard structural analysis and design software, particularly CSI ETABS and the RISA Suite, and the ability to develop, check, and explain structural models. Relevant tools also include SAFE, SAP, Bentley RAM products, EnerCalc, Adapt, and Microsoft products.
Ability to review drawings, calculations, and models for technical accuracy, perform QA/QC, and resolve issues collaboratively with project managers and engineers.
Demonstrated team leadership and the ability to train and mentor junior engineers in structural analysis, modeling, and design.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others in a collaborative team environment.
Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment and bring assignments to completion.
Self-directed approach, a solid technical foundation, and a willingness to listen, learn, and continuously improve.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in engineering.
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Project management and client management experience.
Working knowledge of Revit.
Experience with manufacturing, data centers, or large-scale structural projects.
