Original job description

Who We Are: The core of our identity is a commitment to exceeding our clients’ expectations through employee well-being. We realize that our success starts and ends with our employees, so we have built a culture focused on empowerment and collaboration. We challenge each employee to achieve their full potential through career advancement initiatives, a focus on work-life balance, and a team approach to projects. Based in Lancaster, PA, and Ellicott City, MD, we are a Commercial General Contractor that is formed by our hardworking, driven, and relationship-oriented team.

Who You Are: Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-stakes, and dynamic environment, where no two days are the same. You care about high standards, excellence, and getting it done right - every time. You care about integrity, honesty, and authenticity in all you do and in all your relationships.

Your Impact:

Lead the Charge: Own it. Drive projects to completion with precision, speed, and the highest standards. Safety is always front and center - but excellence is what drives you.
Coordinate Ops: Lead teams of Benchmark employees and subcontractors, ensuring daily field operations run smoothly. From safety checks to quality control, you’ll be in charge of making sure it all gets done, on time, and at the highest standard.
Mentor: Shape the next generation of construction leaders by sharing your knowledge, experience, and drive for excellence.
Collaborate: Work closely with Project Managers to keep schedules on track, tackle challenges head-on, and adjust when things shift. You’re strategizing, solving, and ensuring smooth delivery.
Learn and Execute: Know the game plan, and master the strategy. From financial goals to scheduling, you’ll ensure every aspect of the project stays on course. Logistics, milestones, inspections - you’ve got it all covered.
Build Relationships: You’re the client’s go-to. Understand their needs, exceed their expectations, and make sure every interaction reflects Benchmark’s commitment to quality. You’ll also set the standard for positive, professional relationships with subcontractors and vendors - instilling fairness and professionalism in every project.
Never Stop Improving: At Benchmark, learning is part of the job. You’ll be actively involved in our training programs, sharpening your skills, and staying on top of the latest industry trends.

What You Bring (Experiences & Qualifications):

Above all, you are hungry, humble, and people-smart.

Proven Leadership: 5 + years of experience leading as a Superintendent on commercial construction projects.
Hands-On Expertise: You’ve got a strong foundation from a vocational school, technical college, or a formal apprenticeship program, and you're always looking to apply your knowledge in new, challenging environments.
Blueprint Mastery: You don’t just read architectural, structural, and site blueprints - you own them. You can interpret shop drawings and solve mathematical problems with speed and accuracy.
Action-Oriented: You are fluent in English and whether it’s complex verbal or written instructions, you’re quick to understand, adapt, and execute.
Tech-Savvy Problem Solver: Navigating Project Management software is second nature to you. If you’ve worked with Procore, that’s a bonus, but you're always ready to tackle new tech challenges on your laptop or tablet.
Reliable & Ready: You’ve got reliable transportation and are always ready to hit the ground running, no matter the job site.

Why Choose Benchmark?

A Culture Built to Care: At Benchmark, taking care of people isn’t a tagline; it’s a core value. Through our Built to Care initiative, we focus on your whole well-being: mental, physical, financial, emotional, and professional. When our people thrive, our projects and communities do too.
A Strong Team Environment: You’ll join a team that genuinely enjoys working together. We have each other's backs. We celebrate often, and create space for everyone to belong, whether at picnics, appreciation events, or spontaneous “just because” moments.
Wellbeing That Means Something: Enjoy wellness support that goes far beyond the basics: free and unlimited counseling sessions for you and your dependents, an on‑site fitness center, nutritional services, biometric screenings, and a strong focus on safety so everyone goes home healthy.
Growth & Development at Every Stage: Through Benchmark University, Leadership Development, career pathing, personal development plans, tuition reimbursement, and access to professional groups, you’ll have clear ways to learn, grow, and lead - from day one and throughout your career.
Innovative, Forward-Thinking Work: Construction is always evolving, and so are we. You’ll work with modern tools, technology, and systems that keep us ahead of the curve.
Your Voice Matters Here: Between our Mentorship Program, employee resource groups, and cross‑company collaboration, you have real opportunities to shape the direction of Benchmark and make a meaningful impact.
A Dynamic Industry: Every day brings something new - new challenges, new wins, new opportunities to build what matters. If you love variety, problem‑solving, and working with great people, you’ll love it here.
