Bus Driver - Beaver County School District

Bus drivers in the Beaver County School District work under the direction of the transportation director in cooperation with school principals. Bus drivers operate school buses to designated locations to transport students as required.

Mandatory Qualification Requirements:

• Minimum age of 21 years.
• Have no more than 100 points recorded on past driving record.

Additional Qualification Requirements:

• Annually attend required training.
• Complete the Basic Training Course.
• Maintain 36 hours of training every 5 years.
• Knowledge of safe driving practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of first aid procedures.
• Knowledge of provisions of the state codes applicable to the operation of school buses and the transporting of students.
• Ability to learn emergency procedures for working with mentally and physically handicapped children and preschool students.
• Ability to maintain discipline among students.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English at a level required for successful job performance.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out essential duties of this position. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Hold and maintain a Utah commercial driver's license.

The school district will assist with training and getting a CDL if needed.
