At Bayer, we believe work should matter. Every day, our teams push toward a future where "Health for all, Hunger for none" is within reach, and every role, from the lab to the field to the boardroom, helps us get there. We give people the ownership to shape outcomes, the support to grow through new skills and experiences, and a global community where different perspectives are valued. If you want your work to count and the room to become your best, you'll find it here.

Principal Process Control Engineer

As a Principal Process Control Engineer, you serve as the site's senior technical authority for process automation and digital manufacturing capabilities, enabling safe, reliable, compliant, and efficient operations. In this role, you establish technical standards, govern system lifecycles, and define the strategic roadmap for process control technology, aligning operational requirements with automation, digitalization, electrical integration, and broader business objectives to optimize manufacturing performance and reduce technical risk. You guide investment priorities and major projects while building long-term organizational capability through coaching, mentoring, knowledge transfer, and succession planning, partnering closely with site, regional, and global stakeholders to advance operational excellence.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as the site's senior subject matter expert for process control software and automation technologies, providing technical leadership and establishing the site process control strategy, technology roadmap, and lifecycle priorities;
Execute and lead process control projects from concept through startup, including technical requirements, design reviews, risk management, resource oversight, and alignment with investment priorities;
Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for control systems, process control applications, manufacturing data systems, instrumentation interfaces, and software-related production issues while addressing systemic reliability and obsolescence risks;
Lead root cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, reliability, compliance, efficiency, and manufacturing performance;
Maintain and improve integrations among process equipment, automation systems, manufacturing data platforms, and enterprise applications while defining the long-term architecture required for reliable information flow;
Establish, document, and govern process control engineering standards, cybersecurity controls, change management practices, technical documentation, and system lifecycle procedures in alignment with corporate and regulatory requirements;
Lead process control standardization and technical governance, including the instrumentation and electrical systems that interface with automation platforms;
Develop sustainable organizational capability through coaching, mentoring, technical training, knowledge transfer, and succession planning for process control and E&I engineering resources;
Partner with site, regional, and global engineering, maintenance, operations, capital projects, digital manufacturing, and PCT communities to guide technology adoption, coordinate vendors and contract resources, and advance operational excellence.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:
