Information Technology (IT) Manager

The Town of Ayer is seeking a forward-thinking leader to direct its municipal technology operations in the full-time, fully benefited, exempt position of Information Technology (IT) Manager. Reporting directly to the Town Manager, the IT Manager is a strategic and hands-on professional responsible for the planning, implementation, security, and support of the Town’s technology infrastructure and services. Essential functions include providing technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and access issues; maintains and updates the Town’s website and social media communications; develops and administers cybersecurity training and ensures IT system security across Town departments; coordinates support for network systems, software, hardware, and security platforms with the Town’s outside IT service provider; prepares and monitors the IT budget and the IT capital budget plan; ensures technology continuity during emergencies; performs other related job duties as required. For full position description visit www.ayer.ma.us/jobs The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field; 1 to 3+ years of IT related experience (preferably in a municipal setting); a combination of education and experience may be considered. Driver’s license and ability to pass CORI. Ability to manage multiple tasks; work independently and in a team environment; respond to emergencies (including after hours and weekends); and ability to work with diverse constituencies.
