Original job description

Be Part Of A High-Performing Team

Join a global leader in climate control and energy-efficient building technologies, where engineering innovation is helping shape the future of mission-critical data center infrastructure. This organization develops advanced heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and thermal management solutions designed to improve energy efficiency, equipment reliability, and operational performance.

The engineering team specializes in developing and executing customized airside cooling solutions, including Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAH) and Fan Coil Wall systems that support high-performance data center environments. These emerging product platforms present an exciting opportunity to contribute to a rapidly expanding market while helping establish and refine engineering processes, product designs, and manufacturing practices.

Working within an established engineering technology center, you'll collaborate with experienced mechanical and electrical engineers, designers, manufacturing specialists, and quality teams. The environment combines deep technical expertise, long-tenured engineering talent, and opportunities to influence the development and execution of next-generation cooling equipment.

What's In Store For You

Hybrid Work Arrangement: Work onsite in Lexington, Kentucky, Monday through Thursday, with flexibility to work remotely on Fridays depending on business needs.
Technical Leadership Opportunity: Guide and mentor engineers and designers while serving as a key resource for electrical engineering decisions and technical problem-solving.
Growing Industry Exposure: Contribute to innovative cooling technologies supporting the expanding data center and mission-critical infrastructure market.
Career Development: Access professional training, engineering development programs, tuition assistance, and opportunities to strengthen technical leadership capabilities.
Comprehensive Benefits: Medical coverage and wellness programs beginning on the first day of employment, subject to eligibility.
Work-Life Balance: Paid vacation, holidays, sick leave, parental leave, and volunteer leave opportunities.
Financial Wellness: Retirement savings support, educational assistance, and student debt support programs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work directly with engineering, manufacturing, quality, operations, and product management teams throughout the equipment development and execution lifecycle.
Travel: Up to 10–15% annually.

Requirements

How You Will Make An Impact

Electrical Engineering Leadership & Technical Development

Provide technical leadership and guidance to a multidisciplinary team of electrical and mechanical engineers and designers supporting customized data center cooling equipment.
Mentor and develop engineers by providing expertise in electrical design principles, engineering standards, technical calculations, and structured problem-solving.
Review electrical engineering deliverables to ensure technical accuracy, design quality, compliance with applicable requirements, and manufacturing readiness.
Support engineers from other technical disciplines in understanding and applying electrical engineering principles to equipment design and execution.
Establish and reinforce engineering best practices, standardized workflows, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Serve as a key technical resource for complex engineering challenges, design decisions, and cross-functional problem resolution.

Electrical Product Design & Engineered-to-Order Execution

Lead electrical engineering activities throughout the Engineer-to-Order (ETO) lifecycle, from customer bid support and technical submittals through design execution, manufacturing release, and field support.
Develop and review electrical design content for customer-specific equipment configurations and engineered cooling systems.
Oversee the preparation and accuracy of engineering deliverables, including bills of materials (BOMs), drawings, product specifications, design models, and technical documentation.
Evaluate electrical design requirements, equipment configurations, and product performance considerations to support safe, reliable, and manufacturable solutions.
Coordinate technical activities across engineering resources to ensure customer requirements are translated into complete and accurate manufacturing deliverables.
Apply structured engineering development processes, including Product Development Process (PDP) or equivalent phase-gate methodologies, to support design quality and project execution.

Manufacturing Support, Quality & Continuous Improvement

Partner with manufacturing engineering teams to ensure electrical designs align with production capabilities, assembly requirements, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
Support engineering-to-manufacturing transitions by resolving design questions, reviewing technical documentation, and addressing production-related challenges.
Collaborate with laboratory and validation teams to support equipment testing, customer witness testing, and verification of electrical system performance.
Investigate product quality, reliability, and field issues through root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives.
Identify opportunities to improve electrical designs, simplify manufacturing processes, reduce costs, and enhance overall equipment performance.
Work collaboratively with operations, quality, manufacturing, and product management teams to maintain project execution standards and support customer satisfaction.

Do You Have The Expertise To Lead Electrical Product Design & Engineering Execution?

7–10 years of product design engineering experience, with experienced senior engineers bringing additional relevant expertise also encouraged to apply.
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program strongly preferred. A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering may also be considered for candidates with applicable systems engineering experience.
Strong foundation in electrical engineering fundamentals, including circuit analysis, electrical design principles, mathematics, and physics.
Demonstrated experience designing electrical systems or components for manufactured equipment, industrial products, or complex engineered systems.
Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, reviewing designs, and guiding engineering decisions.
Proven experience leading engineering projects through a Product Development Process (PDP) or equivalent phase-gate methodology.
Experience collaborating with manufacturing teams to transition engineering designs into production-ready products.
Ability to evaluate complex technical challenges, prioritize critical issues, and develop practical engineering solutions.
Strong understanding of engineering documentation, design reviews, quality expectations, and cross-functional project execution.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering disciplines.
Results-oriented approach with a focus on engineering quality, team development, and successful project delivery.
Willingness to travel up to 10–15% annually.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience designing or supporting commercial HVAC equipment, air handling units, CRAH/CRAC systems, or data center cooling technologies.
Experience working in an Engineer-to-Order (ETO), Configure-to-Order (CTO), or customized equipment manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with UL standards and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Knowledge of electrical load calculations, current calculations, and electrical system performance requirements.
Experience with electrical equipment design for industrial machinery, appliances, cooling systems, or other manufactured products.
Experience developing and reviewing BOMs, engineering submittals, electrical drawings, and manufacturing release documentation.
Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), engineering change management, and product quality improvement.
Experience supporting product validation, testing, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes.
Ability to mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams and provide electrical engineering guidance to engineers from mechanical or other technical backgrounds.
