Maintenance Craftsman/Laborer

City of Attleboro External Posting (10/13/2026) Water Department Maintenance Craftsman/Laborer Salary Range: $25.15 - $32.62 per hour The City of Attleboro is seeking to fill two (2) Maintenance Craftsman / Laborer positions in the Water Department. These positions perform unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor in the construction, operation, and maintenance of the City’s water distribution system and related public works operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Performing manual labor related to the construction, operation, and maintenance of water systems, including reservoirs, water gates, water mains, and connectors.
• Laying and connecting service pipes to street mains and water meters.
• Installing, repairing, and testing water meters.
• Locating and repairing water leaks.
• Installing fire hydrants, operating water gates, and activating water service for new connections.
• Performing manual labor and heavy lifting as required.
• Operating trucks with rated capacities exceeding 3 tons and up to 15 tons, as well as large tractor-trailers, snow loaders, snow fighters, and road flushers.
• Operating other vehicles and equipment as needed, including dump trucks, passenger vehicles, sidewalk plows, small tractors, and rollers.
• Cleaning, washing, fueling, oiling, and greasing trucks and automobiles; changing tires; and performing minor equipment maintenance.
• Sweeping sidewalks, raking lawns, hauling debris, shoveling snow, and plowing and sanding roads.
• Assisting with the City’s snow and ice removal program.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• A current and valid Massachusetts Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B.
• A Massachusetts D2 Water Distribution License. This license may be obtained within two (2) years of hire.
