Original job description

At ATB, we exist to make it possible for our clients, team members and communities. Our purpose is more than aspirational. It's a real commitment we live every day through our values (what we call the ATB ID). Life at ATB is about more than work. In fact, we’re consistently recognized as one of Canada's top employers thanks to our high-care, high-performance culture, upheld by the three commitments we make to our team members: Impact in action: No matter where you are in the organization, you're empowered to make an impact in the lives of our clients and communities. Thrive together: We want you - the unique, authentic you - to feel safe and celebrated at work. We're on a continuous journey to build the most flexible and inclusive programs. Ready for tomorrow: We want to enable your success through interesting and challenging work, performance enablement, and learning and development. About the role

This position has a hybrid work arrangement. On average, this means 1-2 days on-site per week. Please note that this is subject to change due to business priorities.

As ATB’s next AI Literacy and Community Manager, you will build and scale enterprise-wide AI literacy, capability, and community engagement across ATB Financial. Through strategic partnerships, curated learning frameworks, and vibrant community programming, this role empowers team members at all levels to understand, adopt, and ethically apply AI technologies in their daily work.

Acting as a central catalyst for AI enablement, the Manager bridges technical expertise and practical business application, driving a culture of continuous learning, human-centric skilling, and collaborative innovation across the organization.

The Manager owns ATB's enterprise AI literacy program, building team member understanding of AI terminology, emerging trends, and practical application. In close partnership with external institutes (e.g., AMII, Federal AI initiatives); People, Culture, Brand & Communications (PCBC); and Data & AI team members, the role designs tailored learning journeys, custom domain interfaces, and scalable community frameworks. By building an internal AI Champions network, tiered engagement paths, forums, hackathons, and gamified learning, the Manager embeds AI readiness across the enterprise.

Accountabilities

  • Enterprise AI Literacy Strategy: Own and execute ATB’s enterprise-wide AI literacy roadmap, defining clear capability tiers (from baseline AI awareness to advanced prompt engineering and agentic workflows) aligned with business priorities.
  • Strategic Partnerships & Ecosystem Alignment: Serve as the primary liaison with external AI hubs (e.g., Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute - AMII, federal AI literacy programs) to integrate best-in-class external knowledge, standards, and research into ATB’s learning ecosystem.
  • Instructional & Enablement Co-Design: Collaborate with People & Culture, Learning & Development, and Data & AI to design, curate, and implement custom domain training, prompt playbooks, and tailored learning interventions.
  • AI Community & Champions Network: Establish and nurture a thriving internal AI community, managing tiered engagement paths, cross-functional ideation forums, AI hackathons/contests, and an active AI Champions Network to drive peer-led adoption and bust operational silos.
  • Measurement & Impact Analytics: Define, track, and report on enterprise AI adoption, literacy completion rates, sentiment logs, and behavior change metrics to senior stakeholders, using data-driven insights to refine programming.
  • Client & External Programming (Future State): Explore and develop external-facing AI literacy initiatives and thought leadership content to support ATB clients, regional business partners, and Alberta’s broader technology ecosystem.
  • Change Management & Culture Building: Partner with Change Leaders and Internal Communications to deliver change readiness strategies, demystify AI technology, address change risks/mindset barriers, and cultivate a safe, ethical, and inclusive environment for AI experimentation.
  • Governance & Committee Steering: Support executive steering committees and cross-functional governance forums to oversee enterprise AI literacy initiatives, monitor program risk, and steward strategic alignment for community scaling.

Skills, experience & requirements

Organizational Development & Skilling

  • AI Literacy & Human-Centric Skilling: Deep expertise in AI, LLMs, prompt patterns, and generative tools, with a focus on translating complex technical concepts into practical learning modules.
  • Learning & Development: Proven ability to assess learner needs, design curriculum, and scale best-in-class capability development programs.
  • Course Delivery & Facilitation: Strong facilitation skills for leading engaging workshops, group sessions, and mastery circles in-person and virtually.

Project, Program & Change Management

  • Community Building & Network Management: Track record of creating and sustaining vibrant employee networks, champion programs, and peer learning communities.
  • Change Management: Expertise in assessing change impacts, reducing adoption friction, and implementing human-centric change tactics.
  • Strategic Planning: Skilled at translating long-term enablement visions into actionable quarterly OKRs and workstreams.
  • Committee & Governance Management: Experience establishing and facilitating executive steering committees and leadership forums to drive strategy and oversight.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Stakeholder Management & Influence: Ability to build trusted relationships and influence cross-functional leaders across a matrix organization.
  • Storytelling & Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate AI value and drive cultural adoption enterprise-wide.
  • Empathy & Active Listening: Human-first approach to understanding concerns, coaching through mindset barriers, and building psychological safety.

Accreditation & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business Administration, Adult Learning, Organizational Development, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience or education).
  • Experience: Minimum 5–7 years of experience leading enterprise enablement, technical communications, change management, or technology adoption programs - preferably within a financial institution or regulated enterprise environment.
  • Experience: A minimum of two to three years of experience in direct people management or leadership within a matrixed organizational structure.
  • AI/Tech Familiarity: Demonstrated passion for and hands-on experience with modern AI/ML technologies, Generative AI tools (e.g., Copilots, LLM interfaces), and enterprise digital transformation tools.
  • Preferred Certifications:
  • Prosci or Change Management Certification (CCMP)
  • Instructional Design or Adult Education certification/coursework
  • Agile/Scrum credentials (e.g., CSM, AgilePM) are considered an asset
