Job Description
The Sterile Processing Tech is responsible for performing and participating in the decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment. This role is critical for ensuring the quality and cleanliness of surgical tools and medical supplies.
Responsibilities
- Decontaminate and sterilize instruments and medical supplies, assembling, wrapping, and sterilizing trays as needed.
- Follow proper standard precautions in decontamination and sterilization areas.
- Monitor biological and chemical wash solutions for quality assurance.
- Sort mismatched sets of instruments and medical equipment for timely availability.
- Restock, label, and maintain inventory for sterilized instruments and medical supplies.
- Perform environmental maintenance duties and assist in inventory management.
- Verify proper function of sterilization equipment and request maintenance when necessary.
- Assist in maintaining departmental policies, objectives, and safety standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Tech.
Certifications/Licensure
- Certification through IAHCSMM or CBSPD is required.
- Michigan license verification is required for nursing professionals.
