Schedule/Shift

12-hour night shifts, with weekend requirements as follows: Night shift staff must work 4 weekend night shifts per 4-week schedule.

Job Description

The Intermediate Care Unit (IMU) provides care for patients requiring a moderate level of intervention. This unit consists of 30 beds (14 private and 16 semi-private) and focuses on managing patients with conditions such as chest pain, rule out myocardial infarction (MI), congestive heart failure (CHF), arrhythmias, and post-procedural care for catheterizations.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and monitoring in a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio, occasionally managing up to 1:6.
• Administer and titrate drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitroglycerin.
• Read and interpret telemetry strips as needed.
• Collaborate with the IV team for IV starts and care management.
• Work with respiratory therapy for equipment and patient respiratory needs.
• Document patient care in the EPIC system.

Required Experience

• Current Registered Nurse license.
• Experience in an intermediate care or step-down unit preferred.

Certifications/Licensure

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.
