This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule/Shift

This position may consist of 8-hour shifts, predominantly 5 days a week, with potential for 10-hour shifts on 4 days a week. On-call is required for variable shifts on weekends and nights, totaling 8 shifts a month, with mandatory weekend coverage every 3rd or 4th weekend based on rotation and requests.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room will provide comprehensive surgical care in a critical access hospital environment, working across various departments including Pre-op, PACU, Circulating, and Endoscopy. Familiarity with Epic as the electronic medical record system is essential. Candidates must be flexible and capable of floating between surgical services, assisting other departments as needed, and following patients through all surgical phases from pre-op to discharge.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for patients undergoing surgical procedures including OBGYN, Orthopedic, GI/GS, ENT, Pain, and Dental.
• Assist in circulating during surgical cases, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Monitor patients in the PACU, ensuring recovery and readiness for discharge.
• Administer medications and manage patient care before and after surgery.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Maintain strict infection control practices throughout the surgical process.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in surgical services or a related field.
• Experience in critical access hospitals preferred.
• Ability to demonstrate skills in various surgical procedures with competencies in patient ratios of 1:1, 1:2, and 1:4.

Certifications/Licensure

• Current and valid Registered Nurse license; Compact license required.
• ACLS and BLS certifications are mandatory.
• NIHSS and PALS certifications are preferred.
