This is a 13-week contract position.
Schedule/Shift
This position requires 3x12 hour shifts on days, from 07:30 to 20:00, with weekend coverage needed every other weekend and holidays as scheduled.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse will work in a fast-paced border unit handling a wide variety of patient diagnoses, including complex emergency department admissions. The role requires providing care to a minimum of 10 and up to 40 patients daily, with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:6. The setting includes care for ED boarders, Medical-Surgical, and Intermediate Care units within the nurse's scope of practice.
Responsibilities
- Administer and manage medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Perform assessments and develop nursing care plans.
- Monitor and document vital signs and patient status.
- Provide support for patients with diverse medical conditions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including social services and pharmacy.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Required Experience
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry setting is required.
- Previous charge or leadership experience is preferred.
- Experience with a variety of patient diagnoses, including trauma.
Certifications/Licensure
- Active RN license in Maryland or compact state.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- CPI certification required; Calm Every Storm online version is accepted.
- NIHSS certification preferred.
