Days of the week vary. This position includes 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with a weekly guarantee of 36 hours.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse in the Medical Telemetry unit will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients with various conditions, including respiratory failure and altered mental status. The unit features a mix of IMC and med/surg patients requiring close monitoring and specialized care. This position will utilize Epic for documentation and includes working with equipment such as ventilators, CPAP, and PCA pumps.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care and coordinate with healthcare team members to ensure optimal care.
- Monitor vital signs and interpret telemetry strips.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Manage and maintain patient equipment as needed.
- Educate patients and their families about health conditions and care plans.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an IMC or medical telemetry setting.
- Experience with ventilators and tracheostomy care is required.
- Ability to float between IMC and med/surg units as needed based on patient care requirements.
Certifications/Licensure
- Valid RN license in the state of Maine.
- BLS certification is required.
