Schedule/Shift
Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, with every third weekend requirement. Block scheduling may be accommodated based on current needs.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) in Labor and Delivery will provide comprehensive care to mothers and their newborns during labor, delivery, and the postpartum period. The RN will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for a group of patients while adhering to all standards of nursing practice. A supportive and caring environment will be maintained to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for labor and delivery patients.
- Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
- Administer medications safely and effectively as per policies.
- Participate in productivity and resource utilization initiatives.
- Support the Nursing Shared Governance Model and participate in improvement initiatives.
- Engage in professional development and complete all required education.
- Integrate current research and evidence-based practices into daily care.
- Provide a supportive environment for new employees and students.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- At least 2 years of experience in labor and delivery or operating room (circulating) settings.
- Direct nursing experience of 6 months to 3 years in a relevant clinical setting.
Certifications/Licensure
- Current New York State RN License.
- BLS Certification from AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross.
- NRP certification.
- ACLS certification.
- FM certification.
