This is a 13-week contract position.
Schedule/Shift
Day shift from 7 AM to 7 PM.
Weekend and on-call requirements: 2 to 4 shifts in a month, rotated between staff.
Floating required to all Med/Surg departments.
Job Description
The competent Nurse practices independently in the Medical-Surgical setting and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. This role includes providing both routine and complex care, with an emphasis on long-range goals. Nurses will continue to develop the ability to cope with clinical contingencies, make appropriate assignments, and delegate tasks to other care providers to effectively manage clinical situations.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
- Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families according to their level of practice.
- Administer medications and treatments per protocol, monitoring for side effects and treatment effectiveness.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identify issues and resources.
Required Experience
Minimum of one year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
Certifications/Licensure
- BLS certification via AHA required.
- RN License in the state of employment or compact.
