Job Description

The Observation Unit at UPHS Marquette serves adult patients in need of care that meets observation status criteria. The unit provides critical monitoring and treatment for various conditions such as chest pain, asthma exacerbations, TIAs, abdominal pain, urinary issues, blood sugar issues, DVT/PE, cellulitis, minor trauma, and post-procedural care. The unit is equipped with cardiac monitors and utilizes Cerner EHR for documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care and support to patients in the observation unit.
• Monitor patients, including ECG and telemetry assessments.
• Administer medications and follow treatment plans.
• Evaluate patient conditions and collaborate with healthcare team members.
• Document all patient interactions and assessments in Cerner EHR.

Required Experience

Minimum of 1 year of med/surg nursing experience.

Certifications/Licensure

• Valid RN license.
• BLS Certification.
• ACLS Certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale Competency.
• Tele/ECG Competency.
• Optional: TNCC, ENPC certification.
