Night shift: 7P-7A, with a weekend commitment of 4 weekends.
Job Description
The Ortho Trauma Specialty Medsurge unit at Medical City Plano is a 36-bed unit that caters to patients with complex orthopedic and trauma-related conditions. This role involves caring for polytrauma patients, non-surgical cervical fractures cleared by spine, and those with downgraded traumatic brain injuries. You will also manage patients with heparin and protonix drips and a maximum of three drains.
Utilizing Meditech as the electronic medical record (EMR) system, you will be part of a dedicated team that values collaboration and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to orthopedic and trauma patients.
- Administer medications and manage intravenous therapy including heparin and protonix drips.
- Monitor patient conditions and report significant changes to the charge nurse.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
Required Experience
- 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Certifications/Licensure
No additional certifications are required at this time.
