12 nights, 7a-7p, 36 hours per week, every other weekend. Holiday coverage needed.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health, preventing illness and injury, and the alleviation of suffering. The RN will serve as a primary or accountable nurse, managing a group of patients while adhering to all regulatory and nursing practice standards. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment, providing patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely, utilizing knowledge of pharmacology.
• Participate in resource utilization and staffing management.
• Comply with nursing practice standards and UHS policies.
• Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education requirements.
• Provide a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
• Perform charge nurse or shift coordinator duties when assigned.

Required Experience

• 3 years of current experience working in an Emergency Department.
• Previous traveler experience with knowledge in trauma, STEMI, stroke, sepsis, and pediatric care.

Certifications/Licensure

• Current New York State Registered Nurse License.
• BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
• ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications are required.
