Job Description
The Cat Scan Technologist performs computer tomography procedures and related techniques, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation, and assists with interventional and therapeutic procedures.
Responsibilities
- Performs complex CT procedures and uses professional judgment when reviewing patient clinical history.
- Prepares and reviews accuracy of the contrast questionnaire.
- Identifies and administers contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Verifies prescriptions for exams and communicates with Radiologists and Referring Physicians as needed.
- Obtains insurance authorized exam scripts and coordinates with Finance for re-verification.
- Requests and schedules outside studies in EPIC and ensures availability in PACS.
- Provides exam copies to patients and healthcare providers as needed.
- Evaluates radiographs using PACS to ensure proper identification and diagnostic value.
- Preps patients for scanning, including shielding and immobilization as necessary.
- Monitors patients for adverse reactions during procedures and addresses patient questions.
- Responsible for scheduled shifts, including holidays and weekends, with overtime as necessary.
- Adheres to hospital policies regarding employee conduct and patient care standards.
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience in CT is required.
- 2 years of experience preferred.
Certifications / Licensure
- NJ ARRT-CT and CT Certification required.
- BLS certification required.
- Knowledge of EPIC EMR preferred.
