Job Description
As a Histotechnician in the Pathology Department, you will perform assigned operational tasks while assisting Pathology Assistants and Pathologists. Your responsibilities will include specimen grossing, embedding, microtomy, staining, slide quality checks, and instrument maintenance. You will also perform advanced duties like immunohistochemical staining and support tasks required for Histology Section operations. This role requires direct patient care and adherence to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Perform delegated histological procedures on body tissue, fluids, and bone marrow samples.
- Assist with specimen grossing, embedding, microtomy, and staining.
- Conduct slide quality checks and maintain histology instrumentation.
- Accession, chart daily logs, and support with clerical duties.
- Participate in special procedures, including bone marrow biopsies and autopsies.
Required Experience
3 years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Assistant in Histology or as a Clinical Laboratory Histology Technician is preferred. Prior travel experience is required.
Certifications / Licensure
- State of Nevada Laboratory Assistant license required.
- Nevada Histologic Technician license required.
- Histologic Technician Certification is preferred.
