Description

Participant Support Staff help individuals and families connect with Archways through welcoming center services, practical assistance, transportation, community outreach, and direct support services. This part-time position supports Archways’ Recovery Support and Family Support work through a strengths-based, participant-centered, and trauma-informed approach.

This is a flexible position with responsibilities that can vary substantially by assignment. Some employees may focus on greeting participants, front desk coverage, transportation, basic needs, and outreach. Others may spend much of their time assisting with or directly providing Recovery Support and Family Support services, including recovery coaching, family strengthening, resource navigation, intake, goal planning, groups, and ongoing participant support. Assignments are based on organizational needs and the employee’s interests, skills, experience, education, training, qualifications, and investment in the work.

Part-time schedules and commitments vary. Assignments may involve regular weekly hours and consistent shifts, or they may be based on flexible or varying hours, or scheduled coverage for particular programs, participants, and/or activities. Responsibilities, hours, availability, supervision, and handoffs are agreed upon for each assignment. Work may take place in Archways centers and other approved community settings.

Requirements

  • Welcome & Engage Participants: Greet individuals and families, cover front desk duties, respond to walk-ins and calls, answer questions, and help people feel comfortable and connected to Archways.
  • Support Basic Needs & Center Services: Help participants access showers, laundry, food, supplies, and other practical resources; assist with daily center services and participant activities.
  • Provide Participant Transportation: Provide approved transportation to services, appointments, activities, and other destinations when authorized and assigned; coordinate schedules and safe handoffs.
  • Conduct Community Outreach: Engage individuals and families at libraries, shelters, pantries, neighborhoods, community organizations, and other assigned settings, including street outreach when appropriate; explain Archways services and develop trusting connections.
  • Support Community Engagement & Activities: Assist with or lead approved groups, events, volunteer activities, outreach efforts, community projects, and Connection in Action activities within the employee’s capabilities and assignment.
  • Provide Recovery Support: Connect people with recovery services and multiple pathways of recovery. When qualified and assigned, deliver recovery coaching, peer support, recovery goal planning, and other ongoing recovery services.
  • Provide Family Support: Help families access resources, activities, and support. When qualified and assigned, deliver family strengthening, caregiver support, goal planning, and other direct Family Support services using approved practices.
  • Assist With or Deliver Intake & Resource Navigation: Assist with referrals, enrollment, consent, assessments, benefits, healthcare, housing, employment, and other resources; complete direct service functions when trained, qualified, and assigned.
  • Provide or Assist With Ongoing Direct Support: Work alongside Leads and other direct support staff or independently support participants when qualified and assigned. Caseloads, follow-through, and continuity responsibilities reflect the employee’s hours and supervision.
  • Support Partner Relationships & Program Delivery: Assist with visits, outreach materials, referrals, distribution efforts, program services, and logistics. Refer new commitments or program changes to the assigned supervisor.
  • Maintain Safety, Confidentiality & Documentation: Follow Archways safety, harm reduction, and confidentiality practices; maintain professional boundaries; complete assigned transportation, outreach, referral, and service records in approved systems.
  • Participate in Supervision & Teamwork: Attend assigned supervision, meetings, and training during scheduled paid hours; coordinate with Leads, program staff, and operations staff and communicate participant concerns, needs, and handoffs.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in customer service, outreach, human services, peer or family support, education, or related work; relevant life and work experience considered.
  • Welcoming communication style, good judgment, dependable follow-through, and ability to work respectfully with individuals and families.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, accurate records, and reliable communication within an agreed assignment.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, acceptable driving record, and ability to provide approved participant transportation as assigned.
  • Ability to pass required criminal background and motor vehicle record checks (a criminal background is not automatic means for rejection of employment)
  • Ability to fulfill agreed regular or flexible hours and commitments, including occasional evenings or weekends when scheduled.
  • Commitment to participant-centered, strengths-based, trauma-informed Recovery Support and Family Support practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience greeting participants, staffing front desks, coordinating transportation, conducting outreach, or supporting community projects.

  • Knowledge of local community resources, multiple pathways of recovery, and the Strengthening Families™ Protective Factors Framework.
  • Experience providing direct Recovery Support or Family Support, facilitating groups, or assisting with intake and navigation.
  • Motivational Interviewing training or willingness to complete training.
