Responsibilities
Arcfield is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the development and integration of advanced space-based sensing and mission capabilities supporting US Space Force and national security. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, understanding how diverse capabilities work together, and developing practical systems and mission solutions from evolving requirements.
The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary mission engineering team, supporting senior technical leadership while taking ownership of architecture and solution-development activities. This individual will help translate mission objectives and requirements into system-level architectures, evaluate technical approaches, understand interfaces and dependencies, and contribute to solutions that balance mission needs, technical constraints, and system-level performance.
This role requires broad technical curiosity and strong engineering judgment. The ideal candidate does not need to be the deepest technical expert in every domain but must be able to understand enough across multiple disciplines to connect capabilities, identify dependencies, ask effective questions, and help teams converge on practical solutions.
Responsibilities
- Support systems and mission engineering activities across the full system lifecycle, from concept development and requirements through development, integration, test, deployment, and operations.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of system and mission architectures based on requirements, operational concepts, interfaces, technical capabilities, and mission objectives.
- Support end-to-end technical solutioning efforts, from problem definition through development and assessment of candidate approaches.
- Analyze requirements, technical documentation, architecture products, and other engineering inputs from multiple sources to identify relationships, dependencies, inconsistencies, and opportunities for integration.
- Work across multidisciplinary technical domains including space, ground, communications, sensing, mission processing, data, and operations.
- Develop and maintain architecture views, technical assessments, solution concepts, briefings, roadmaps, and other engineering products.
- Support requirements decomposition and allocation by helping determine how mission objectives and system requirements translate into technical capabilities and interfaces.
- Identify and analyze system-level interfaces and dependencies across technical teams, capabilities, and organizations.
- Participate in technical working groups, design discussions, reviews, and solutioning sessions with government customers and other stakeholders.
- Present technical findings and recommendations to technical leads and government stakeholders.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- BS 5-7 Years, MS 3-5, PhD 0-2
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or another relevant technical discipline, or equivalent technical experience.
- Must possess and be able to maintain a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
- Demonstrated experience in systems engineering, architecture, technical analysis, solution development, or related disciplines.
- Experience working across technical teams and communicating with government customers or stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, written, verbal, briefing, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to understand complex technical information and develop system-level conclusions from multiple sources.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with technical leads and other engineering disciplines.
- Ability to adapt engineering approaches as mission objectives, requirements, and technical understanding evolve.
Desired Experience & Attributes
- Experience developing or supporting system architectures, mission architectures, technical solutions, trade studies, technical roadmaps, or system-level assessments.
- Experience translating requirements and operational concepts into architectural or technical solutions.
- Experience working with complex system-of-systems environments and distributed capabilities.
- Broad understanding of space systems, sensors/RF/radar, satellite communications, ground systems, mission processing, data systems, mission operations, modeling and simulation, or related national security capabilities.
- Experience with system interfaces, integration, verification, technical baselines, or lifecycle engineering.
- Experience participating in customer engagements and technical working groups.
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly develop sufficient understanding of unfamiliar technical domains to contribute meaningfully to engineering decisions.
