  • Thorough understanding of Ohio boundary, subdivision, property, and surveying requirements.
  • Experience reviewing deeds, plats, easements, rights-of-way, title information, and other property records used in boundary determination.
  • Experience supervising, coordinating, and scheduling survey field crews.
  • Experience preparing surveying scopes of work, proposals, fee estimates, and contracts.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple surveying projects, schedules, budgets, and deliverables concurrently.
  • Proficiency with modern surveying equipment and survey-processing/design software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, project managers, engineers, field personnel, and public agencies.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Serve as the Professional Surveyor responsible for surveying projects in Ohio, including appropriate technical review and professional oversight.
  • Manage surveying projects from initial scope development through field investigation, data processing, quality review, and final deliverables.
  • Plan and coordinate boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, construction, and other land surveying assignments.
  • Supervise and coordinate field crews, including workload planning, scheduling, field instructions, and resolution of field issues.
  • Review survey calculations, research, field information, plats, legal descriptions, and other surveying deliverables for completeness and technical accuracy.
  • Perform and oversee boundary research and resolution using deeds, plats, easements, rights-of-way, monumentation, field evidence, and applicable Ohio requirements.
  • Prepare and review proposals, scopes of work, labor estimates, project budgets, and contract documents for surveying services.
  • Coordinate surveying requirements with civil engineering, site development, transportation, utility, architectural, and construction teams.
  • Manage project budgets and schedules and communicate changes in scope, schedule, or level of effort to project leadership and clients.

  • Maintain awareness of current surveying technology, equipment, software, professional standards, and applicable state requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 10+ years of surveying experience, particularly in a consulting environment.

  • Previous experience serving as a Survey Manager, Survey Project Manager, or Survey Department Lead.
  • Experience supporting industrial, commercial, infrastructure, utility, transportation, or large-scale site-development projects.

Success in This Role

The successful candidate will be capable of taking ownership of the Ohio surveying practice from both a technical and operational perspective. This individual should be comfortable moving between technical survey review, field-crew coordination, project management, proposal development, and client interaction.

They should also be able to work closely with civil and site-development teams to establish surveying approaches that are appropriate for complex projects, particularly large industrial and development sites where boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, easement, right-of-way, and construction survey requirements frequently overlap.
