Original job description
Summary The people here at Apple donʼt just build products - they craft the kind of wonder thatʼs revolutionized entire industries. Itʼs the diversity of those people and their ideas that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we do, from amazing technology to industry-leading environmental efforts. Join Apple, and help us leave the world better than we found it.
Appleʼs US Sales organization generates the revenue needed to fuel our ongoing development of products and services. This in turn, enriches the lives of hundreds of millions of people around the world. We are, in many ways, the face of Apple to our largest customers.
As the US wearables market intelligence analyst and tooling expert on the US Business Planning team, you will drive the weekly market intelligence cadence for Apple’s wearables portfolio across US Consumer Retail and Carrier routes-to-market. You will also augment the team’s capacity by building scalable tools for market intelligence use cases.
As the wearables landscape continues to evolve, you will monitor competitive launches, pricing shifts, promotional activity, and campaign performance. Your work will directly translate complex market dynamics into clear, actionable recommendations for sales leadership.
Equally important, you will build the infrastructure that scales this work. By transforming recurring manual analysis into repeatable, self-serve reporting and integrating AI capabilities, you will accelerate the team’s move from raw data to a defensible strategic point of view.
Beyond core category analysis, you will spearhead our Individual AI charter by designing custom AI briefing agents, prompt-engineering frameworks, and automated presentation workflows that modernize how leadership consumes market insights. By pairing advanced econometric modeling (such as hedonic price regression) with emerging AI capabilities, you will turn raw market signals into predictive, decision-ready intelligence. Finally, you will partner closely with Business Planning, Decision Intelligence (DI), and BizOps teams to identify high-value analytics use cases and scale automated solutions for broader organizational impact.
Description
In this role, you will:
- Own the weekly aggregation and analysis of market share, third-party syndicated data, channel sell-through, and promotional intelligence across smartwatches, adjacent wearable form factors, personal audio, and accessories.
- Partner with sales planning, commercial, and demand forecasting teams across Consumer and Carrier channels to ground current-quarter trajectory in external market dynamics, identifying run-rate risks, pacing anomalies, and forecast vulnerabilities.
- Help leadership see around corners by tracking competitor launch cadences, promotional changes, and category ASP shifts, translating findings into a clear, weekly "so what" summary.
- Serve as the broader Business Planning team’s analytical builder by designing, developing, and maintaining automated tools, dashboards, and data models that scale market intelligence delivery across all US sales channels.
- Eliminate recurring manual data pulls by building automated code and self-serve reports; experiment with and implement modern AI/LLM tools to accelerate how the team synthesizes unstructured market reads and research reports.
- Design, build, and deploy custom AI briefing agents that automate data retrieval, summarize multi-source market signals, and assist executive slide generation for leadership reviews.
- Work hands-on with third-party data providers, validating data health, flagging anomalies, managing recurring delivery cadences, and maximizing the utility of existing research investments.
- Partner with DI, DataOps and BizOps teams to test, shape and graduate experimental AI models from stage to preview to production and implementation.
- Develop, implement, and lead best-in-class pricing and benchmarking frameworks (including spec-adjusted hedonic regression), working across internal data assets and syndicated market sources to round out the holistic picture of Apple’s category performance.
- Synthesize complex data sets into clean, concise Keynote presentations and executive-ready summaries that help sales leaders make informed commercial decisions.
Minimum Qualifications 5+ years of hands-on analytical experience in market intelligence, business planning, sales operations, data analytics, or category management within consumer electronics, telecommunications, or retail. Demonstrated success in consumer/business intelligence, product marketing, product management, commercial management, market research, finance, and strategy planning. Strong interest in and market familiarity with the wearables ecosystem - smartwatches, health/fitness trackers, adjacent emerging form factors, true wireless audio (TWS), and core accessories. Ability to connect market share movements, inventory trends, and competitor promotional activity directly to internal run-rates and current-quarter sales pacing. Demonstrated track record of building automated dashboards and self-serve reporting (Tableau, Power BI, or similar modern BI tools). Experience with Python or R for data wrangling, automation, and data pipeline scripting. Comfort operating in a fast-moving, high-visibility environment, supporting multiple cross-functional senior stakeholders simultaneously. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with or a strong curiosity about applying modern AI/LLM tools to streamline research synthesis and reporting workflows. Experience building custom LLM agents, prompt engineering pipelines, or automated briefing tools (RAG, agent workflows) is highly valued. Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, capable of juggling recurring weekly forecasting deadlines with creative, long-term tooling projects. Expert proficiency in Keynote and Excel, with an eye for clean, minimalist visual design and the ability to translate complex data into concise, easy-to-digest slides. MBA preferred.
