Design, engineer, and validate concepts, parts, and solutions using 3D CAD tools (e.g. Siemens NX). Demonstrate proficiency and extensive experience using 3D CAD design tools; Integrate experience from Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical analysis and process control theory in tolerancing and production capability, functional dimensioning, and geometric tolerancing into design work; Interact and collaborate with overseas manufacturers to ensure designed parts are mass producible. Demonstrate knowledge of manufacturing processes used for metal, plastic, and brittle components; Analyze structural and functional robustness of the design by working with finite element analysis and using statistical tools/ techniques; Resolve issues and ensure the design meets requirements throughout its lifecycle by applying mechanical and material engineering principles to conduct failure analysis and determine root cause; Utilize materials and mechanics of materials engineering principles to design material-based solutions conducive to mass production. Parse and synthesize large datasets and complicated design details into visual summaries that clearly communicate issues and proposed solutions; Conduct failure analysis using data collected on advanced instruments such as industrial computational topographic x-ray scanners and scanning electron microscopes to determine root cause and corrective design changes; Create technical drawings and test specifications for mechanical components, including callouts for GD&T, FAI/SPC, and ORT; and Develop innovative analysis tools to assess performance of new, breakthrough technologies invented for iPhone. 20% international travel required. 40 hours/week.
