Original job description

Summary The Find My team builds a seamless, private, and secure way for people to locate their devices and personal items - and share location with friends and family - at a scale of hundreds of millions of users worldwide. We're a fast-paced, collaborative group of engineers, designers, and product managers who wear many hats and partner across hardware, software, and privacy to ship groundbreaking, reliable experiences.

Description As an SDET on the Find My team, you'll thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like environment, owning test strategy and automation across the stack - backend services and web - for features that reach hundreds of millions of users. You'll partner closely with engineers to shift testing left, build reliable automation into our CI/CD pipelines, and continuously raise the bar on quality as we build the future of Find My.

AI readiness: We expect our SDETs to be fluent with modern AI tooling - comfortable using GenAI and AI-assisted coding/testing tools (e.g. Claude, Copilot) to accelerate test authoring, triage, and coverage, with sound judgment about where AI helps and where human verification is essential.

Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications 5+ years of experience in software quality engineering / test, with a strong automation focus Hands-on automation experience across backend/API and web (breadth across both strongly preferred) Proficiency in at least one object-oriented language (Java, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Go, or equivalent) Experience automating API / microservice testing (unit, component, integration, contract tests) and working with REST/JSON Experience with web UI automation (Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress) Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle, testing methodologies, and the test pyramid Experience designing test plans, assessing risk, filing defects, and reporting test results Experience building and maintaining automated test suites that scale Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience Comfortable using AI / GenAI-assisted development and testing tools (e.g. Claude, Copilot) in day-to-day work Strong written and verbal communication - able to report quality status and risk clearly to technical and non-technical partners

Preferred Qualifications Modern web automation frameworks (i.e. Playwright) and cross-browser testing Backend/REST API testing depth: contract testing tools, service virtualization, mocking, performance/load testing Experience testing location-, privacy-, or security-sensitive features Familiarity with observability and monitoring (logs, metrics, tracing) to diagnose service failures Experience with containerized test environments and cloud-based test infrastructure Exposure to Kubernetes, AWS, or other cloud infrastructure Understanding of operating systems and networking fundamentals Experience with CI/CD and the build & release process for web / service projects Passion for clean code and OO design patterns Enthusiastic about Apple and genuinely passionate about the customer experience Able to cut through ambiguity and deliver results on time
