Description APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Develop and implement cleaning cycles for an array of substrates and geometries to enable subsequent decorative coatings at highest yield; Develop and implement processes to create engineered surfaces that meet Apple specifications for cosmetics, function, and reliability at highest yield; Collaborate with best-in-class equipment and consumables vendors to develop and implement custom MP feasible solutions to achieve aggressive targets for yield and cost; Design and execute experiments to optimize process to meet aggressive targets for yield and product quality; Collaborate with Apple Industrial design, Product design and Manufacturing; Design to set working specifications for engineered surfaces; Conduct extensive failure analysis and surface characterization to root-cause technical issues and/or define specifications; Develop MP feasible processes and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to validate through engineering builds; Collect, analyze, and present data to key decision makers to help drive design and commercial decisions; Drive overseas manufacturers to implement solutions at MP targets for yield and cost; Determine root cause for coating issues and drive corrective actions; Compile and evaluate data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process and part specifications; Establish audit procedures appropriate to program and supplier to ensure adherence to Apple standards; and Evaluate and communicate yields of new and existing processes. 30% international travel required. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $194,600 - $293,900/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Nanotechnology Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Material Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation.

5 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:

Designing for manufacturing (DFM) to develop working specifications for Wet Cleaning or Chemical treatment processes that includes equipment design, fixture design, ultrasonics and drying . Design of Experiments (DOE) to develop and optimize key process variables to meet product specifications. Utilize FMEA to drive root cause on technical issues and identify mitigation paths Utilize FA techniques such as SEM/EDS/TEM/XPS/FTIR/GCMS to characterize surfaces and coating failure mechanisms Utilize JMP or Tableau to analyze large volume of data Create FA reports , data rich presentations to deliver clear messaging to key stake-holders to drive technical and commercial decisions. New Product Introduction (NPI) to Mass Production (MP) engagement with suppliers and Cross-functional stakeholders to validate process and scale for volume production Experience in independently managing the project in a fast paced, matrixed organization to ensure timely closure of issues and execution of development activities to meet program targets.
