Original job description
Summary Do you want to help build some of the largest and most consequential enterprise and customer technology systems in the world? Join Apple’s Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) organization. IS&T is the engine behind everything Apple does for customers and for the people who build for them. It’s Apple’s central nervous system. Supporting 2.5 billion active Apple devices, processing billions of secure transactions, and keeping the technology that defines modern life running flawlessly, IS&T makes the impossible feel effortless. Do you love building solutions to handle global complexity and immense scale? Imagine what you could do here.
Retail and Marcom Engineering, an IS&T team, builds and operates the systems and experiences that connect Apple's products with its customers. The team owns the technology behind both Apple's online and physical stores and drives the interactive marketing experiences and tools that keep creative operations moving. Together, those functions deliver the technology behind every product story Apple tells and every purchase a customer makes.
Description On Marcom Engineering's AI Experiences team, we build AI-powered tools for Apple's marketing and creative teams, from AI-assisted copy workflows to AI Optimization (AIO), along with the AI foundations that help our engineers, and the AI agents working alongside them, ship on-brand work faster.
We are hiring a Frontend Engineer to build the interfaces behind our AI-powered tools. You will turn designs and specs into polished, production-ready UI for AI-driven experiences - streaming responses, structured results, and conversational flows - with AI coding agents and team-built AI tooling as part of your everyday workflow. This role sits at the intersection of frontend craft and applied AI: you'll build components and interfaces, partner closely with design, and help shape how a team works when AI is part of every step. If you care about the details, love to ship, and are excited to grow alongside AI, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities
Build AI-powered interfaces: Build and ship React components and interfaces for AI-driven tools - streaming responses, structured outputs, conversational flows, and human-in-the-loop review - based on established patterns and requirements. Work with AI every day: Use AI coding agents and the team's AI tooling - agent skills, AI-assisted code review, automated tests - as part of your daily workflow. Review generated code critically, and help improve the guidance and instructions our agents rely on. Partner with Design: Work closely with designers to turn specs into pixel-accurate, accessible UI that meets the level of detail and intent they set. Deliver results: Own discrete features from implementation through testing and release, ship on schedule, and keep quality high with unit, visual, and end-to-end tests. Contribute to the foundations: Build and maintain components, documentation, and examples that work for both the engineers and the AI agents that use them. Advocate and grow: Share what you learn, champion healthy AI adoption among your peers, and grow your skills through code reviews and mentorship from senior engineers.
Minimum Qualifications 3 years using TypeScript and React in production applications Experience using JavaScript (ES6+), semantic HTML5, modern CSS, and responsive layouts Working knowledge of web accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA) and building inclusive interfaces Hands-on experience using AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) in daily development, with the judgment to review and refine generated code Practical experience with Git and code review workflows BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
Preferred Qualifications Experience building interfaces that consume AI/ML model outputs, such as streaming LLM responses, structured generation, or chat-based UIs Familiarity with AI concepts: prompt engineering, tool use / function calling, and structured outputs Experience writing instructions, skills, or documentation that AI coding agents use Experience with design systems, component libraries, or design tokens Experience with Next.js (server-side rendering), Node.js, Sass/CSS Modules, Vite, Vitest, Playwright, and Storybook, or similar tools Experience with schema-driven UI and data contracts, such as GraphQL (including federated graphs), JSON Schema, or TypeBox Effective communicator who works well across technical and creative teams, from early design exploration through pixel-accurate implementation Curiosity and an eagerness to learn as AI tools and practices evolve
