Senior Technical Accountant Are you a proactive, driven accounting professional ready to shape the financial framework of market-leading real estate brands? Join our Regional Controllers team as a Senior Technical Accountant, where you will play a key role across our company-owned brokerages - including Coldwell Banker, Sotheby’s International Realty, and Corcoran. This role is based at our headquarters in Madison, NJ.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Close & Reporting: Manage month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations across multiple brands.
- Technical Accounting & GAAP Compliance: Ensure all accounting practices adhere to U.S. GAAP and internal policies, author technical accounting memos, and research complex or non-routine transactions.
- Audit & Financial Disclosures: Prepare and review financial statement disclosures, support external audit requests, and maintain a robust internal control environment.
- M&A & Corporate Development: Support merger, acquisition, and divestiture activities through accounting due diligence, purchase accounting analyses, purchase price allocations, goodwill assessments, and post-acquisition integration.
- Process Improvement & Leadership: Drive operational efficiency by leading process analyses, identifying standardization opportunities, reviewing peer or staff journal entries and reconciliations, and partnering cross-functionally with FP&A, Legal, and Corporate Development.
Qualifications:
- Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting; CPA or active CPA candidate preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of public accounting experience, with required internal or external audit experience.
- Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Excel and a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP accounting and financial reporting.
- Core Competencies: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with high attention to detail.
