Full-time Remote $115,112 – $131,000

About Us

The Ammortal Chamber brings together multiple scientifically backed technologies into one experience. It is a healing technology that can be utilized by wellness clinics and inside the home. Our clients include specialty spas and clinics, sports teams, and individuals who are biohackers or athletes.

We are a small team with a startup culture. After our first full year shipping a finished product on the market, we’ve shown strong growth. Our team is made up of engineers, health professionals, and startup entrepreneurs.

As we continue expanding, this role offers hands-on experience, opportunities to grow into leadership, and the chance to make a tangible impact by developing and delivering cutting-edge wellness technology. You’ll collaborate across disciplines to innovate and shape technologies that enhance well-being for our clients.

What is this role and why does it exist? The Ammortal Chamber is a complex electromechanical wellness product that integrates structural, thermal, fluid, sensing, audio, lighting, and user-interface systems into one cohesive experience. As we scale production and continue to refine the Chamber, we need a mechanical engineer who can turn great ideas into parts and assemblies that are manufacturable, serviceable, and built to last.

The Mechanical Design Engineer owns detailed mechanical design from concept through production release, working closely with our Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. Every bracket, panel, mount, and mechanism you release helps more people experience the Chamber reliably, and helps our clients and their guests feel cared for from the first touch.

Responsibilities

  • Detailed Mechanical Design Ownership: Own detailed mechanical design of assigned products, assemblies, and subsystems from concept through production release.
  • Production-Ready Design Outputs: Develop production-ready 3D CAD models, assemblies, drawings, tolerance schemes, and BOMs. Create and maintain controlled mechanical design outputs and engineering changes.
  • Structural and Packaging Design: Design structural components, brackets, enclosures, panels, mechanisms, equipment mounts, fluid-system packaging, cable-management features, and user-interface components.
  • Subsystem Mechanical Solutions: Develop mechanical solutions for hydrogen generation and delivery, user controls, sensing systems, service access, user accommodation, and accessory hardware. Integrate electrical, firmware-controlled, optical, audio, sensing, and fluid subsystems into the mechanical design.
  • Design Intent to Manufacturable Reality: Translate industrial-design concepts into manufacturable mechanical solutions while preserving design intent.
  • Analysis and Design for X: Perform tolerance analysis, stack-ups, design calculations, material selection, and basic structural analysis. Design for manufacturing, assembly, serviceability, transportation, installation, and field replacement.
  • Prototyping and Validation: Build and evaluate prototypes and support rapid design iterations. Participate in design reviews, DFMEAs, verification activities, engineering builds, failure investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Supplier and CM Partnership: Work directly with suppliers and contract manufacturers to resolve design and manufacturing issues.

Skills to Excel

  • Production CAD Fluency
  • You communicate design intent clearly through models, assemblies, and GD&T drawings that suppliers can build from.
  • Manufacturing Judgment
  • You understand how machining, sheet metal, plastics, fabricated structures, fasteners, adhesives, and assembly processes shape a design, and you design with them in mind.
  • Systems Thinking
  • The Chamber blends structure, fluids, electronics, light, and sound. You see how mechanical decisions affect every other subsystem.
  • Hands-On Problem Solving
  • You're comfortable at the bench with prototypes, instrumentation, and test equipment, and you learn fast from builds and failures.
  • Clear Cross-Functional Communication
  • You work well with industrial design, electrical, firmware, suppliers, and manufacturing partners.
