The Physician Assistant – Corrections provides medical services to incarcerated individuals under the direction of a physician; collects and documents inmate patient data, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and provides professional consultations/referrals. In the correctional setting, the Physician Assistant provides direct inmate patient care services in a variety of specialties including primary care, diagnosing, treating common illnesses and performing minor procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Health Science field preferred, may berequired by state regulations or contract specifications
• Physician's Assistant Certificate of Registration or Licensefrom the state Medical Board in practicing state
• Certified as a Physician's Assistant by the NationalCommission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred; may be requiredby state regulations or contract specifications
• One (1) year of experience as a Physician's Assistantstrongly preferred
• 1 year of correctional experience preferred.
• BCLS certified required
• ACLS/PALS per state or contract requirements
• Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
• Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
• Must be at least 18 years of age
