Original job description

Ameresco, Inc. (NYSE: AMRC) is a leading energy infrastructure company delivering integrated solutions that provide reliable power and modernize infrastructure. Since 2000, we have served as a trusted partner to public and private sector customers across North America, the UK and Europe, delivering over $15 billion in solutions and contracting more than 5 GW of energy resources.

At Ameresco, we integrate energy resources and modernize the built environment through innovative infrastructure solutions that improve reliability, optimize performance, strengthen resilience, and support long-term sustainability. Join us in building the infrastructure that powers the future. Explore opportunities to make a meaningful impact while growing your career with a company at the forefront of energy innovation.

Ameresco is seeking an experienced Senior Business Manager to help grow our Asset Sustainability business with public-sector and institutional clients. This is a senior, client-facing sales role for someone who knows how to create business, not simply manage opportunities once they appear. The successful candidate will bring an established professional network, a demonstrated ability to open new doors, and the experience to lead opportunities through the complete sales cycle, from prospecting and initial discovery through proposal, negotiation, and contract award.

Our Asset Sustainability Group (ASG) helps clients with sizeable real estate portfolios turn the challenge of aging infrastructure into a clear, defensible investment plan that aligns with the client’s mission. Our clients use our software and consulting to benchmark their portfolio, develop multi-year funding appropriation strategies, and balance budgets using a Total Cost of Ownership lens. We integrate data from multiple disconnected platforms into a Decision Development FrameworkTM that translates insights into strategies and confidently prioritizes the next series of investments. We optimize our customers’ assets, transform deferred maintenance liabilities into actionable investment roadmaps, and move from reactive asset management to proactive portfolio stewardship.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable developing their own meetings, building relationships with senior decision-makers, and navigating complex organizations. This person will be independent, while drawing on Ameresco's technical, operational, software, proposal, and leadership resources to develop the right solution for each client. The objective is to build relationships, create qualified opportunities, win work, and turn successful projects into long-term client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and own a qualified sales pipeline for Asset Sustainability services, including facility condition assessments, capital planning, asset management, and related software and advisory services. Create new business opportunities independently through an established professional network, direct outreach, referrals, industry relationships, conferences, professional associations, and other business development channels. Build and maintain relationships with senior client decision-makers, including facilities leaders, finance executives, administrators, procurement professionals, and executive leadership. Manage the complete sales cycle, from prospect identification and qualification through discovery, solution development, proposal strategy, presentations, negotiations, and contract award. Lead discovery conversations that uncover client priorities related to facility condition, deferred maintenance, capital needs, asset data, funding constraints, organizational priorities, and long-term planning, and Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • 7+ years of business development, consultative sales, account development, or related experience.
  • Demonstrated success generating new business and developing qualified opportunities independently.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder opportunities through the complete sales cycle.
  • Experience developing relationships with senior-level client decision-makers.
  • Demonstrated record of meeting or exceeding sales, revenue, or business development goals.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for client meetings, conferences, and industry events.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience selling to state and local government, K-12, higher education, healthcare, or other institutional clients.
  • An established professional network within facilities management, capital planning, asset management, engineering, construction, energy, or related markets.
  • Experience selling professional services, consulting, software, or technology-enabled services.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Asset Management and Total Cost of Ownership, including capital planning (facility condition assessments, deferred maintenance, funding and budgeting strategies), maintenance management (optimization and CMMS software), energy management, and sustainability.
  • Experience with formal public procurement processes, including RFPs, RFQs, cooperative contracts, competitive interviews, and presentations.
  • Experience developing strategic accounts that generate repeat engagements and opportunities across multiple service offerings.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and client communication skills.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $101,000 – $161,500 (presented in good faith). In addition to base pay, employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, and may be eligible for performance incentives, bonuses, commissions, or equity, depending on the role.

Actual pay will depend on factors such as internal equity, skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. This range supports our commitment to pay transparency and compliance with applicable laws. Compensation may vary by work location, including remote arrangements.

We disclose salary ranges and benefits in all required external and internal postings and will provide further details upon request at any stage of the hiring process. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

Ameresco challenges the brightest, most talented, and creative individuals in the industry by providing an environment that fosters initiative and achievement. We are proud of our comprehensive and competitive employee benefits, including people-oriented insurance, investment, and incentive plans.
