Original job description
Are you an experienced presales Solutions Architect with deep expertise in databases, migrations, and modernization? AWS is seeking a Sr. Solutions Architect to serve as a trusted technical advisor to our customers who are embarking on complex database migration and modernization journeys. In this role, you'll combine your strong business acumen with your technical expertise in relational and non-relational database technologies to architect solutions that transform our customers’ most critical data workloads.
Our Solutions Architecture team is dedicated to helping customers achieve their business goals through thoughtful, well-architected technology solutions. We work closely with sales, engineering, and professional services teams to deliver outcomes that matter. We are a collaborative group that values knowledge-sharing, continuous learning, and creative problem-solving. If you are excited about working with customers across industries, tackling new technical challenges, and contributing to a team that is always learning and growing, this is the place for you.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and architect end-to-end database solutions for customers in our Healthcare and Life Sciences (HCLS) vertical
- Lead technical discussions on complex migration and modernization strategies across commercial relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server), open-source relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB), NoSQL services (e.g., DynamoDB, DocumentDB), and specialized database engines (e.g., Neptune, ElastiCache)
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions that address the customer’s unique challenges in the competitive database landscape
- Drive database migration assessments, performance optimization engagements, and architecture reviews - applying technical judgment to evaluate trade-offs in scalability, reliability, cost optimization, and operational excellence
- Provide strategic guidance to customers through 1:1 advisory sessions and 1:many enablement workshops, driving database service adoption and ultimately revenue growth, by contributing to go-to-market strategy and creating reusable technical content (reference architectures, best practices)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, product, and engineering to gather customer feedback, influence database service roadmaps, and ensure customer requirements are translated into actionable product enhancements
- Stay current with emerging trends in Database and Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) technologies in order to help customers innovate and maintain competitive advantage
