Original job description

Are you passionate about helping customers solve complex technical challenges? As a Solutions Architect II at Amazon Web Services (AWS), you will partner directly with customers to design and deliver cloud-based solutions that drive real business outcomes. You will combine your technical depth with a genuine curiosity for understanding each customer's unique context - their goals, constraints, and opportunities - to architect systems that are secure, scalable, reliable, and performant.

In this role, you will own end-to-end solution designs, guide customers through critical design trade-offs, and serve as a trusted technical advisor. Whether you are helping a customer migrate existing workloads, adopt new services, or rethink their architecture entirely, your work will have a direct and measurable impact on how organizations build and innovate in the cloud.

Key job responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end technical design of customer solutions, making informed trade-off decisions across areas such as load distribution, data store selection, scaling strategy, and failover mechanisms to meet business objectives.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor by learning each customer's business context and proactively identifying opportunities and risks associated with their technical decisions.
  • Develop, deliver, and maintain technical content - including presentations, workshops, sample code, and best-practice documentation - to educate customers and the broader technical community.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including sales, engineering, professional services, and support to progress customer engagements and ensure successful solution delivery.
  • Identify gaps in products and services by translating customer feedback into clear technical requirements for engineering teams, and seek opportunities to simplify existing solutions and create reusable design patterns.

A day in the life You might start your morning reviewing an architecture design for a customer preparing to scale a critical workload, then join a call to walk them through your recommendations and discuss trade-offs. After lunch, you could be building a proof of concept to validate a new approach, or leading a peer design review with fellow Solutions Architects. Later, you may draft a blog post capturing lessons learned from a recent engagement or prepare a workshop for an upcoming customer event. Your work blends deep technical problem-solving with meaningful customer collaboration.

About the team Our team of Solutions Architects is dedicated to helping customers succeed with AWS by meeting them where they are and guiding them toward where they want to go. We operate in a collaborative, knowledge-sharing environment where every team member contributes to improving how we work - from refining design patterns to mentoring new teammates. We are focused on building long-term customer relationships, creating reusable solutions, and continuously raising the bar on the technical guidance we provide. If you are energized by solving hard problems alongside thoughtful colleagues and curious customers, this is the team for you. Basic qualifications

  • 2+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
  • 4+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience Preferred qualifications
  • Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries
  • Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
  • Experience working with AWS technologies from a dev/ops perspective
  • - Experience in identifying security issues and risks, and developing mitigation plans
  • - Experience securing generative AI or agentic workloads, or a strong point of view on how security models need to evolve for AI-native architectures
