Original job description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) QuickSight is looking to hire a Software Development Engineer to support the fast-growing organization that builds world-class experiences and services for our customers. AWS QuickSight is a fast, easy-to-use, cloud-based, serverless Business Intelligence (BI) service designed for easy deployment to tens of thousands of users, and as a fully-managed SaaS application there's no need to buy, manage, and scale servers and no software to deploy and upgrade; it is deeply integrated with AWS data sources, allowing companies to deploy secure and scalable BI on their data in AWS. AWS QuickSight powers data-driven organizations with unified business intelligence at hyperscale, where all users can meet varying analytic needs from the same source of truth through modern interactive dashboards, pixel-perfect reports, embedded analytics, and natural language queries, turning insights into impact faster.

You will be part of an AWS QuickSight team innovating the next generation of business intelligence, leveraging agentic AI to reinvent how customers explore, analyze, visualize, and act on their data through a unified, serverless BI experience - we have just started on this journey and have a lot of autonomy in delivering the future of cloud-based business intelligence. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to decisions related to system architecture, feature development, and product strategy, and to help build complex distributed systems with microservice architecture, all on a high-visibility, strategic project with plenty of opportunities to learn from the best in the industry and grow your career.

In this role, you will enhance and build new foundational components and user experiences that integrate generative AI capabilities with existing features for business users, making AWS QuickSight the most compelling experience for business users; the role offers wide scope, autonomy, and ownership, and the ideal candidate will bring deep technical and leadership experience to work with a team of stellar engineers to drive multi-year design and architecture decisions. You'll work alongside a dynamic team of AI/ML practitioners, applied scientists, software engineers, and solution architects who work backwards from customer needs to create innovative technologies, and if you're passionate about shaping the future of AI while making a meaningful impact for customers worldwide, we want to hear from you.

We are looking for an SDE with a strong sense of ownership and a passion for delivering creative solutions for complex problems on an unprecedented scale.

Software Engineers at Amazon partner with the customers, stakeholders, product managers and UX designers to define and execute the product goals. You challenge yourself and others to constantly come up with better solutions. You're a thought leader, but you don't just know how to solve the problem, you prove it by building the solution. Last but not the least; you have a high bar for code quality and passion for design and architecture.

Agentic AI drives innovation at the forefront of artificial intelligence, enabling customers to transform their businesses through AI solutions. We build and deliver the foundational AI services that power the future of cloud computing, helping organizations harness the potential of AI to solve their most complex challenges. Join our dynamic team of AI/ML practitioners, applied scientists, software engineers, and solution architects who work backwards from customer needs. If you're passionate about shaping the future of AI while making a meaningful impact for customers worldwide, we want to hear from you.

Key job responsibilities Translate functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture/design/working software solutions. Code and test system components; participate in code and design reviews. Demonstrate ownership of end-to-end code quality, system tests, functional tests, and integration. Partner/Collaborate across teams/roles to deliver results. Be responsible for overall system architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance.
