Original job description
AWS Data Center Security - Security Program Manager
Amazon Web Services (AWS) serves customers and developers who rely on storage, compute, and our other service capabilities. Our customers trust us to handle their data with strong, continually tested security measures, and protecting that data is a responsibility we take seriously.
AWS Data Center Security is seeking a highly talented and motivated Security Program Manager to join our team. AWS provides virtualized infrastructure, storage, networking, messaging, and many other services to customers around the world. In this role, you will manage complex security initiatives - delivering critical solutions while implementing significant improvements, introducing new mechanisms, and deprecating processes that are no longer needed. You will be responsible for the design, installation, and full lifecycle of physical security systems, including Access Control, Intrusion Detection, and CCTV surveillance systems, as well as overall security policy and program management. These efforts require working with multiple teams within and across organizations.
You will own the overall strategy for multiple large security programs and manage all stages, from concept to delivery, to meet challenging business goals and deliver measurable improvements in customer experience; business, operational, or employee efficiency; compliance adherence; financial results; and other key metrics.
You will also continuously review existing security standards and stay abreast of new industry developments that strengthen the physical security of AWS data centers and colocations, identifying opportunities to raise the security bar and reduce costs. You will work directly with the Data Center Security Operations team, Design Engineers, System Engineering, Construction Managers, Build TPMs, and other stakeholders - both internal and external - to translate business requirements into physical security system design and implementation. Your work will include supporting the design and deployment of physical security packages and program enhancements for the AWS data centers in your assigned portfolio.
The ideal candidate is willing and able to work across multiple disciplines and at all levels: physical security system design and layout, construction and implementation, and oversight of system maintenance and upgrades over the life of multiple projects. You have in-depth knowledge of security technology, are innovative and highly organized, and know how to deliver results on time and on budget. The role may involve travel, and the ability to work autonomously is essential. You can solve ambiguous problems, proactively identify existing or emerging security vulnerabilities, and apply mitigation strategies to reduce overall risk. You understand and effectively apply program- and project-management best practices, and you may be asked to assess processes, program plans, and operational requirements. You work with teams to improve concurrent project delivery, streamline or eliminate excess process, and help teams decouple from dependencies and remove problems that slow innovation or cause customer dissatisfaction.
About the team AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that help our customers maintain continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, and we're looking for talented people who want to help.
You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and professionals in other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to deliver high standards for safety and security while providing near-limitless capacity at a low cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them through to completion.
Diverse Experiences AWS values diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the preferred qualifications and skills listed in the job description, we encourage you to apply. If your career is just starting, hasn't followed a traditional path, or includes alternative experiences, don't let that stop you from applying.
