Original job description

Are you passionate about creating both the best buying AND selling experience on the internet? Would you enjoy telling your friends that, in your first few weeks, you shipped code that made selling on Amazon clearer, fairer, and more trustworthy for millions of sellers around the world? As a Software Development Engineer on the Selling Partner Trust team, you'll build the systems and AI powered experiences that do exactly that, every single day.

This is a builder's role at the intersection of large-scale distributed systems and applied Generative AI and harness. We're leveraging models, building harness and pipelines to help sellers understand and resolve issues quickly, so they can get back to growing their business. If you want your code to reach tens of millions of customers and your design decisions to genuinely change how people experience Amazon, keep reading.

The team and our mission: The Selling Partner Trust team protects Amazon's brand owners, and sellers from bad actors, abuse, and fraud, while making sure good sellers are never unnecessarily disrupted. We believe the future of the Marketplace, and of Amazon, depends on deepening trust across every part of the buying and selling experience. Our vision: give buyers and sellers the most trusted experience on the internet, free of performance gaps, abuse, and negative post purchase surprises.

A growing part of that mission is transparency. When something affects a seller's ability to sell, they deserve a clear explanation, a path forward, and the tools to fix it, proactively, before any disruption. That's where you come in.

Who you are: You're a technical builder with the prowess to deliver world-class software and the judgment to know what to build next. You have great intuition. At Amazon, teams run like businesses, and that ownership means you, as an engineer, are responsible for the technical solutions that deliver an exceptional customer experience. You're comfortable navigating ambiguity and you're at your best when the design space is wide open, as comfortable reasoning about a GenAI evaluation pipeline as you are about tail latency on a service handling millions of requests a day.

What you'll build:

GenAI-powered seller experiences at scale, production systems built on harness & services that leverage foundation models powers, that turn complex signals into clear, accurate, seller-facing guidance. You'll work across AI hardness design, retrieval, output evaluation, and safety guardrails, and the platform that makes generative experiences reliable enough to serve millions of sellers. High-performance platforms, services that handle millions of requests per day at millisecond latency under strict SLAs, built on big data sets and distributed frameworks, serving the world's largest product selection. Trust and remediation systems, automation and experiences that help sellers understand issues, resolve them quickly, and avoid problems before they ever happen.

You'll have the opportunity to conceptualize, design, build, test, and own software systems end to end. You'll drive the technical direction of the team across a wide range of technologies, designing and coding, troubleshooting and supporting, and continuously raising the bar on what we ship. You'll have real ownership of what we build, not just a slice of it, as part of an exceptionally talented team where your ideas shape the roadmap.

Why this role: We're scaling our seller-trust experiences across Amazon's full policy surface and expanding the role of Generative AI in how we communicate with sellers. The systems you build will be visible to leadership and used by sellers worldwide on day one. The impact is real, measurable, and yours to own.

Want to build large scale, AI powered systems that earn sellers' trust and help them succeed? We're looking for you. Basic qualifications

3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
Experience programming with at least one software programming language Preferred qualifications
3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
