Original job description

Application deadline: Nov 10, 2026

Are you passionate about working on disruptive ideas and building innovative solutions? Are you drawn to take on the hardest problems, navigate ambiguity, and battle skepticism? Then this is the role for you.

The CE Tech organization's mission is to make Amazon the preferred destination for customers to discover and purchase high consideration products and services. We accomplish this by developing a deep understanding of our customers (consumers and businesses), our suppliers, and our organization. We use generative AI (GenAI) to make our engineering teams more productive, and to make the shopping experience better for our customers.

We are pushing on what GenAI can actually do, and we are embedding it across the entire software development life cycle - not just writing code, but design, testing, code review, operations, and how we learn what customers need. If you have ideas in that space, or you look at how fast teams are moving with GenAI and think it should be faster, you will have the environment to experiment, learn, and deploy your solution to production.

Come be a part of our product development team! We are seeking a technically skilled engineer who can influence across teams to help bring the products customers want into their hands, all around the globe.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate customer-facing services end to end - from design document through launch, and through the operational life of the service afterward.
  • Design generative AI systems that coordinate several agents toward a goal, deciding what each agent owns, how work passes between them, where the loop terminates, and which parts of the problem stay in deterministic code.
  • Build the evaluation, guardrails, and observability that show a non-deterministic system is behaving correctly before a customer ever sees it.
  • Apply generative AI across your own development workflow - design, implementation, testing, code review, and operational triage, and bring the techniques that work back to the rest of the team.
  • Partner with product managers, designers, and engineering teams elsewhere in Amazon to turn ambiguous customer problems into launched features. Basic qualifications
  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
  • 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
  • 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language Preferred qualifications
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
