Original job description

Are you ready to shape how Amazon sources and manages hardware commodities at scale? We are looking for a collaborative and analytical Hardware Commodity Specialist to join our Internal Procurement team. In this role, you will develop and execute procurement strategies for hardware commodity categories, working across teams to optimize cost, quality, and supply continuity. You will manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and use data-driven insights to inform sourcing decisions that have a meaningful impact on our business.

This is an opportunity to apply your procurement expertise to complex hardware supply chains while partnering with engineering, operations, and finance stakeholders. You will tackle ambiguous problems, present solutions to leadership, and drive process improvements that deliver long-term value. If you are a self-starter who thrives on turning data into action and building strong supplier partnerships, we want to hear from you.

Key job responsibilities -Develop and implement strategic supply schedules, clearly communicating priorities and status to internal and external stakeholders -Manage end-to-end supplier relationships, including performance monitoring, regular business reviews, contract negotiations, and corrective action plans to ensure quality, delivery, and cost targets are met.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners in engineering, finance, and operations to align procurement activities with program needs, support new product introductions, and inform make-versus-buy decisions.
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks by monitoring supplier health, developing contingency plans, and coordinating capacity and inventory strategies to maintain supply continuity.
  • Drive process improvements and operational excellence within the procurement function, leveraging data analytics and generative AI tools where appropriate to increase efficiency and decision-making quality. -Design and maintain scalable, reliable analytical tools, dashboards, and metrics to drive key decisions and resource prioritization

A day in the life You will start your day reviewing supplier performance dashboards and spend data, identifying trends that require action. From there, you might lead a supplier business review, prepare a sourcing recommendation narrative for leadership, or work with engineering partners to evaluate a new component supplier's technical capabilities. You will regularly balance strategic planning with tactical execution, moving between contract negotiations, risk assessments, and cross-functional alignment meetings. Mentoring teammates and contributing to team development will also be part of your regular rhythm.

About the team Our Internal Procurement team is focused on delivering smart, scalable sourcing solutions that support Amazon's hardware needs. We partner closely with engineering, operations, and finance teams to ensure our supply chains are resilient, cost-effective, and ready to support rapid growth. Our team values curiosity, collaboration, and a willingness to challenge the status quo. We are building procurement capabilities for the long term, and you will play a key role in shaping how we work with suppliers and stakeholders across the organization. Basic qualifications
