We're always looking for passionate, driven professionals who want to make a meaningful impact, grow their careers, and be part of a collaborative team committed to excellence.

Position Summary

The Billing Senior Associate manages front-end billing for assigned complex, high-volume, or high-profile accounts while supporting efficient claim flow and team operations. This role works independently with minimal supervision and handles advanced account workflows, issue resolution, and payer/client-specific billing requirements.

As a senior team member, the Billing Senior Associate serves as a resource for Billing Associates by providing guidance, informal training, escalation support, and process improvement recommendations. This position partners closely with Coding, Insurance Follow-Up, Client Services, and leadership to improve clean claim rates, reduce preventable errors, and support overall revenue cycle performance. By ensuring claims are billed accurately, timely, and efficiently, this role helps optimize revenue cycle, reduce preventable rework, and support a stronger experience for clients and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

Billing Operations & Account Management

  • Conduct claim intake for assigned new accounts
  • Ensure claims are complete and required documentation is validated prior to requesting coding
  • Route claims to coding teams, ensuring coding is completed in a timely manner
  • Manage front-end billing for assigned complex or high-volume accounts, including claim intake, claim scrubbing, charge entry, and claim release.
  • Review accounts for missing, incomplete, or inconsistent information that may delay billing or impact reimbursement.
  • Ensure claims are billed accurately and within required turnaround times, in accordance with payer guidelines, client requirements, coding documentation, and internal standards.
  • Monitor billing queues and aging statuses daily to ensure claims move through the billing process and do not create downstream AR issues.
  • Support account-specific SLA compliance and internal turnaround time expectations.
  • Monitor monthly billing volume trends and escalate significant changes to the appropriate account team.
  • Provide day-to-day workflow guidance, informal training, mentorship, and onboarding support to Billing Associates and new hires.
  • Contribute to process improvement efforts, including SOP updates, workflow optimization, testing new tools, and identifying automation opportunities.

Issue Resolution, Escalations & Process Improvement

  • Resolve complex or escalated billing issues for assigned accounts.
  • Escalate unresolved, systemic or reoccurring issues with clear documentation, supporting details, and recommended next steps.
  • Partner with claim intake, coding, and other support teams to resolve documentation or coding discrepancies impacting claim submission.
  • Recommend improvements that reduce errors, improve handoffs, strengthen claim quality, and increase operational efficiency.

Client & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as a key contact for billing questions, account status updates, and client-facing issue resolution for assigned accounts.
  • Communicate clearly, professionally, and proactively with internal and external stakeholders regarding billing issues that would affect account health.
  • Collaborate with Coding, Insurance Follow-Up, Client Services, and leadership to address billing trends and improve claim outcomes.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Maintain or exceed charge release timeliness targets for assigned accounts.
  • Achieve 98% billing accuracy and claim quality standards while minimizing rework, claim edits, and avoidable rejections.
  • Review claims over 75 days from date of service daily and drive them toward resolution and claim release.
  • Resolve billing delays, claim holds, missing information, and workflow barriers within 24 hours whenever possible.
  • Review monthly billing trends to ensure consistent claim volume and escalate significant changes.

Experience & Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in physician collections, A/R follow-up, and denial management.
  • Advanced knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding, billing guidelines, and payer requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience handling complex and escalated accounts and appeals.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and implement solutions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with reporting and data analysis tools preferred.
  • Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively support and guide team members.
  • Prior experience serving as a team resource, mentor, or informal leader is highly preferred.

Additional Qualifications

  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a proactive and solution-driven approach.

Pay Range
