Original job description

Job Title: Proposal Coordinator 250 employees across the state. We’re 100% Arizona owned and managed, which means you’ll never feel like a number here. Our team delivers a full spectrum of services - civil engineering, surveying, geotechnical and materials testing, environmental, and EHS - giving you exposure to many paths and projects. Alta is big enough to offer opportunities, and advanced technology - yet small enough that you’ll know your team, see your impact, and have leadership that knows you. We’re proud to be a trusted partner to some of the nation’s largest corporations, developers, and public agencies - helping to build the future, while also protecting it through environmental stewardship and sustainable solutions.

General Summary:

Launch your career in the engineering and construction industry. As an Estimating & Proposal Coordinator, you'll work alongside engineers, geologists, project managers, and technical professionals to help win projects that shape communities across Arizona. Every proposal you help coordinate has the potential to become a new roadway, residential development, school, manufacturing facility, commercial building, or other critical infrastructure project. This is an excellent opportunity for someone beginning a career in construction management, engineering, or the AEC (Architecture, Engineering & Construction) industry. You'll gain hands-on experience learning how projects move from opportunity to award while working closely with experienced professionals across Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials Testing, Survey, Civil Engineering, and Environmental Consulting. You'll play an important role in coordinating proposals, supporting project pursuits, communicating with clients, organizing project information, and helping our teams win work. Along the way, you'll develop skills that can lead to careers in project management, operations, estimating, business development, engineering, or leadership. Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Coordinate the preparation and submission of proposals for geotechnical, construction materials testing, survey, civil engineering, environmental, and multidisciplinary projects.
Monitor estimating inboxes, bid forums, and client procurement portals for new opportunities, deadlines, and project updates.
Work closely with project managers, engineers, geologists, and technical staff to gather project scopes, pricing, schedules, and supporting information.
Help coordinate project pursuits from the initial opportunity through proposal submission, client follow-up, contract execution, and project handoff.
Communicate with clients regarding proposals, pending approvals, requested information, and next steps.
Edit, organize, and assemble professional proposal documents that reflect Alta's quality and brand.
Maintain proposal schedules, opportunity trackers, estimating communications, and internal deadlines.
Organize proposal templates, project descriptions, staff resumes, certifications, and marketing materials.
Support the Marketing and Business Development teams with proposal coordination, pursuit tracking, and process improvements.
Build relationships across multiple technical disciplines while learning how engineering consulting projects are developed and awarded.

What You'll Learn

Engineering and construction project delivery
Project estimating and budgeting
Proposal development and strategy
Business development and client relationships
Project coordination and communication
Multidisciplinary engineering services
Professional collaboration with engineers, geologists, and project managers

This role provides a strong foundation for future careers in project management, operations, engineering, construction management, business development, and leadership.

Job Qualifications:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, English, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Two (2) or more years of experience coordinating proposals, marketing, or administrative support in the engineering, architecture, construction, or professional services industry preferred.
Experience responding to public agency RFQs/RFPs is highly desirable.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Why Alta? See your impact. How many people can drive by a highway, school, or major company and say, “I helped build that?” At Alta, every employee can. The work we do is visible in the infrastructure communities rely on every day. We’re passionate about developing people. Many of our leaders began their journey in entry level positions, and worked their way up into management. We invest in you from day one with hands-on training, paid certifications, and mentorship to help you progress in your career.

Working at Alta means:

Career mobility: clear paths to grow into leadership roles.
Multi-disciplinary exposure: civil, survey, geotechnical, materials testing, environmental, EHS, etc.
Investment in you: paid certifications and ongoing training.

Impact you can see: the chance to contribute to projects that define communities.

Benefits

Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
401(k) plan with company match.
Opportunities for professional development and career advancement.
