We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our team and support commercial electrical construction projects through technical documentation, procurement, scheduling, and field coordination. We are looking for someone with a background in construction or electrical project coordination who can work closely with our project managers and field teams, as well as subcontractors and design professionals, to keep projects organized and moving forward. This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience across all phases of commercial electrical construction, with a pathway toward Assistant Project Manager and Project Manager positions within our company.

Responsibilities

Support our project managers with daily project planning, execution, and coordination.
Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, transmittals, and procurement documentation.
Review electrical drawings, specifications, and contracts to verify project scope and identify design discrepancies.
Coordinate with field crews, suppliers, subcontractors, general contractors, and our internal project teams.
Track material orders, delivery schedules, equipment availability, and long-lead items.
Assist with monitoring project schedules, expenses, budgets, billing, and cost forecasts.
Participate in site visits and project meetings, document key decisions, and follow up on outstanding items.
Work with our estimating and BIM/VDC teams on constructability reviews, design coordination, and material planning.
Maintain accurate project records, drawings, correspondence, meeting minutes, and progress reports.
Assist with quantity takeoffs, purchasing, commissioning, punch lists, and final project handover.
Identify and escalate potential delays, budget concerns, material shortages, and coordination issues.
Help ensure project activities meet contractual requirements, technical standards, quality expectations, and safety procedures.

Requirements

2+ years of experience in construction, project engineering, or electrical project coordination.
Experience with a commercial electrical contractor or electrical subcontractor preferred.
Working knowledge of commercial electrical systems, installation methods, and construction workflows.
Familiarity with RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement tracking, and project scheduling.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, technical specifications, contracts, and construction schedules.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction software such as Procore or Bluebeam.
Strong organizational, communication, analytical, and time-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable collaborating with field teams, trade partners, vendors, and clients.
Willingness to travel to job sites throughout the Detroit metropolitan area.
Experience with healthcare, higher education, institutional, manufacturing, or industrial projects is a plus.

Benefits

Competitive salary based on experience.
Performance-based bonus opportunities.
Health, dental, and vision insurance.
401(k) with company match.
Paid time off and company holidays.
Vehicle allowance, where applicable.
Technical training and professional development.
Mentorship from our experienced project managers and field leaders.
Career progression toward Assistant Project Manager and Project Manager positions.
Exposure to large-scale commercial electrical construction projects.
